THROWBACK THURSDAY: THE #1 SONG 20 YEARS AGO TODAY WAS...

....Take A Bow by Madonna. Take a Bow was released as the second single from Madonna's Bedtime Stories album in the Fall of 1994. First single, Secret, was a big hit, but the album hadn't quite picked up momentum yet. Well that changed when Take a Bow was released. The single, produced and written with Babyface and featuring his vocals, went to #1 on February 25, 1995 and became Madonna's longest running #1 song on the Hot 100, holding the pole position for seven weeks. The music video for Take a Bow is a classic. Madonna pines for her abusive matador, played by real life bullfighter Emilio Muñoz, in gorgeous period costumes and lingerie. She, of course, looks flawless and so does he in those pants. Somebody bring me a fan! And a tape measure. Anyhooooo....Take A Bow ended up being the 8th biggest song on the Hot 100 for 1995 and the 24th biggest single of the decade. A true classic. Here is the number one song from 20 years ago today, Take A Bow by Madonna.
