SCOTUS RULES IN FAVOR OF MARRIAGE EQUALITY!!!!

"No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. ... [The challengers] ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right."

THROWBACK THURSDAY: BETTE MIDLER IN THE 80s

I'M SEEING BETTE MIDLER IN CONCERT TONIGHT!!!! It's my first time seeing her live. ANYHOOO....Bette Midler won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1973, but many would argue her greatest success didn't come until the 1980s when she was an untouchable film and recording superstar. Starting with The Rose, which hit #3 on the Hot 100 in 1980, Bette's recording career took off. It was her first top 10 hit since 1973's Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and her performance in the film as a hard living rock icon earned her her first Oscar nomination. She followed up with a concert film, Divine Madness, which kept her in the public eye and on the charts. Bette's 1983 No Frills album had her in a more new wave/rock format featured her excellent cover of The Rolling Stone's Beast of Burden. Of course her biggest successes were yet to come. Her star continued to rise in films like Ruthless People, Outrageous Fortune and Big Business. With the release of the film and soundtrack to Beaches, Bette was on top of the world. Her rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings hit #1 on the Hot 100, earned a Grammy for Song of the Year and the album sold over 3 million copies in the US alone. Her continued success proves there is no doubt Bette is a Hollywood, entertainment legend and her work during the 80s is a big part of that. Here are some of The Divine Ms. M's best from the era.

HUMPDAY SEXY SONG: RIO - DURAN DURAN

One of the sexiest videos/songs to come out of the 80s, Duran Duran were video superstars already by the time Rio came out. In a very short time, the Brits were able to establish themselves in the medium with striking videos like Girls On Film, Planet Earth and Hungry Like the Wolf. Rio upped the ante by taking it to the beach, adding models and putting frontman Simon Le Bon in a teenie-weenie speedo. YAAAAS, QUEEN!! The result is slick, sleek and sexy as hell and epitomized 80s glamour. Enjoy the even objectification of women and Simon's package with today's Humpaday Sexy Song, Rio.

THE #1 SONG 31 YEARS AGO TODAY WAS....

...The Reflex by Duran Duran. Seems appropriate that the boys from DD would have out one of the hottest new songs in the world RIGHT NOW with Pressure Off (see HERE) featuring production by Nile Rodgers and as we take a look back in history we see they were already funky AF with their 1984 #1 single The Reflex, which became most popular in its remix form done by Nile RodgersIt marked the first time the band had worked with Rodgers. The third and final single from their moster 1983 album Seven and The Ragged Tiger, The Reflex became Duran Duran's most successful single ever, topping the charts in both the US and the UK and hitting #1 in many other territories. The song is just like the band: sleek, sexy and timeless. Enjoy the #1 song from 31 years ago today, The Reflex.

NEW JANET JACKSON: NO SLEEEP

JANET IS BACK!!! Janet Jackson posted a hot slow jam titled No Sleep on youtube today and it is classic, sexy Janet. No Sleeep (yes, 3 "e"s) is reminiscent of Janet's Velvet Rope album with it's quiet, intimate sexiness and sweet harmonies. It also marks a comeback not just for Janet but also for longtime producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who produced all of Jackson's biggest hits. Janet's album is due this fall. Listen and enjoy.

HAPPY MONDAY SONG: I'LL TUMBLE 4 YA - CULTURE CLUB

To kick things off on this Happy Monday is Boy George and Culture Club with I'll Tumble 4 Ya. Released in the summer of 1982 and reaching #9 on the US Hot 100, I'll Tumble 4 Ya is one of the happiest, energetic songs from Boy and the band ever. The video is a hoot too!! Set on a stage, the band does some fancy footwork and look for a young Naomi Campbell in the line up of tap dancing little girls. Anyhoo, here is the song to put some pep in your step this Monday, I'll Tumble 4 Ya!

MADONNA FRIDAY: 5 VIDEOS THAT MADE MADONNA A GAY ICON

Since Pride Month is in full swing, I thought I'd make this Madonna Friday even a little gayer. There are countless reasons why Madonna is a gay icon: activism, philanthropy, fashion, music, humor. Perhaps one of the most important is her use of music videos. There is no denying that Madonna is the Queen of Pop and one of the most innovative and provocative artists in the history of music videos. While there are many more that could be added to this list, these are five videos that I have cemented Madonna's place in the hearts of her gay fans. Naked boys, leather play, man servants, fashion and vogue'ing: What more do you want, queen? We'd all still be gay without Madonna, but we wouldn't be as good at it. Watch below and HAPPY PRIDE 2015!!!

HILARY DUFF PERFORMS ACOUSTIC VERSION OF 'TATTOO' FROM NEW ALBUM IN HER BACKYARD

Lovely!! Hilary Duff has an amazing new album out, Breathe In. Breathe Out. That's the name of the album, not a Lamaze tutorial. You can read my review HERE. Anyway, Tattoo is one of the many excellent songs on the album and it's co-written by Ed Sheeren. The album version is little rockier than this take, but this is quite lovely and shows that Hilary isn't afraid to strip it down a little. Get Breathe In. Breathe Out. now!

OFFICIAL FULL LENGTH VIDEO FOR 'BITCH, I'M MADONNA'

I told you I was going to wait until it was ready and available, y'all!! Ha. Madonna's third single from her amazing Rebel Heart album now has its video, Bitch, I'm Madonna. And she IS Madonna all up in this bitch. Filmed at The Standard in NYC (you know, where Solange beat up Jay-Z), the video is a hazy party blur with cameos by Rita Ora, Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé and more. LOVE IT!!!! Look for her sons Rocco and David dancing their little butts off too. Here it is, Bitch, I'm Madonna. If you haven't bought Rebel Heart yet you are a terrible human being. Fix that.

THE 'BITCH, I'M MADONNA' REMIXES ARE NAILING IT!!

Madonna is bound to have another #1 dance hit on her hands (it'll be her 46th) with new single Bitch, I'm Madonna, so it makes sense that she'd kill it with all the remixes. Here are the eight official remixes to the track featuring Nicki Minaj. Dance and enjoy. The video premiered on Tidal today and, by all accounts, will be available for the rest of us tomorrow. Could be sooner. We'll see!!!

JANET JACKSON GIVES A TASTE OF HER NEW MUSIC

A sweet sounding snippet of what we can only presume is a song that will appear on Janet Jackson's upcoming album was posted by Janet herself on her various social media accounts today. Without giving the title, the song's lyrics are included in the short, 42 second video. There's no telling if this is a part of a ballad or if this is an intro to a dance-pop song. We'll have to wait and see!!! Janet's album, her first to be released on her very own Rhythm Nation record label, is due in the fall. Can't wait!! Listen below.

ANOTHER TEASER FOR MADONNA'S 'BITCH, I'M MADONNA' VIDEO

I mean.....Here is another preview for Bitch, I'm Madonna, which apparently premiering this morning. Rumor has it that the video will be released first on Tidal, so no one will see it for a while. OH, SHIT, SON!! I'm sure we'll get the video by the end of the day. Can't wait!

REVIEW AND ALBUM SAMPLER: GIORGIO MORODER - DÉJÀ VU

Giorgio Moroder, uber legendary producer, is back with his first album in 30...count them....30 years! And it is shockingly fresh and forward sounding. With guests like Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Sia, Charlie XCX, Kelis and more, Moroder brings his signature electro-sound that he basically created with his work with Donna Summer in the mid-70s and his Academy award winning soundtrack work on Flashdance and Top Gun in the 80s and updates them to great effect for your ear holes. Right Here, Right Now (ft. Kylie), the title track with Sia, Back and Forth (ft. Kelis) and his cover of Tom's Diner with Britney are all absolute joys!!!! The whole album is truly a gem-and-a-half, y'all. Check out the album sampler below that has some awesome choreography to entertain you as well. Don't be a dick, just watch it!!! Déjà Vu is available now on iTunes.

THE #1 SONG 25 YEARS AGO WAS....

.........Step By Step by New Kids On The Block. The boy band craze was in full effect in 1990 and NKOTB was right at the front of the line. Step By Step was the first single form their album of the same name and it was a huge hit. It spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in Canada as well, hitting the top 10 in several countries around the world. The single went double platinum and was the groups biggest seller of all time. And yeah, that's Marky Mark, New Kid Donny Wahlberg's brother, making an appearance in the video holding a basketball. Enjoy the #1 song from 25 years ago today, Step By Step.

MADONNA'S POSTER/TEASER FOR VIDEO OF 'BITCH, I'M MADONNA' IS EPIC!!

You're not the only one with friends, Taylor Swift!! ha. Madonna has unveiled the poster and a teaser for her upcoming video for next single Bitch, I'm Madonna on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, and bitch, a lot of people are coming to this party. In addition to the Queen the video will feature Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Rita Ora (?). As you see from the tweet below, the video is almost ready, but Madonna is a perfectionist. Can't wait for this one!!!! Rebel Heart is on iTunes now, in case you didn't know.

REVIEW: HILARY DUFF - BREATHE IN. BREATHE OUT. BEAUTIFUL, BREEZY POP REALNESS.

It's been eight long years since Hilary Duff released an album of original music. 2007's Dignity was cutting edge dance pop that made me think that Hilary was locked and loaded to become America's Kylie. All the signs were there: Adorable hotness, girlish vocals and attitude for days. The album garnered praise and attention. Then.........nothing. Hilary disappeared from the music scene. She was still popping up on TV and made occasional appearances, but mainly she married, had a kid and settled down. Well things have changed. Hilary still has her kid of course (she's not an animal) but she is divorced and famously on Tinder and back in the music biz with her catchy A.F. new album Breathe In. Breathe Out. This album is absolute pop perfection, y'all!!! From the infectious lead track, first single Sparks, co-written by Tove Lo, we are off and running. Tove Lo actually co-wrote several tracks on BIBO and Hilary perfectly brings out the edgy, female power pop attitude that Tove brings to her own music. My Kind, One In A Million and Confetti give a powerful 1, 2, 3 punch of dance floor adrenaline and electro-ballads like the title track, the Rihanna-influenced Lies and Arms Around a Memory show the vulnerability that comes from the now-adult Hilary Duff can bring to her vocals. Unceremoniously cut from the final album are the tracks previewed back in summer of last year, Chasing the Sun and All About You, which both had more of a Sheryl Crow/Colbie Callait kind of feel to them. I say good riddance. I was not excited about that trajectory AT ALL. This album is a tour de force of beautiful, breezy summer pop that will have you shaking it by the pool for months. Hilary is back and may be back on the Kylie track. Watch the video for Sparks below and audio from a couple of the tracks below then go BUY THIS ALBUM.

DURAN DURAN ANNOUNCES ALBUM/SINGLE RELEASE DATE AND ALBUM ARTWORK

Duran Duran are coming back with new music this fall!!! The band made a statement on their website announcing the release date for their upcoming album Paper Gods. Before we get to that, they also announced that their first single from the album will be Pressure Off ft. Janelle Monáe, available for purchase at all participating digital retailers and DuranDuran.com this week. NOW Paper Gods will be released September 18th in the U.S. and September 11th in all other territories with pre-orders available this week. The album artwork (pictured) is created by LA-based artist Alex Israel and it's pop-tastic! Here is what Duran Duran had to say about the albums inspiration:
"We found a whole new level of inspiration on this album,” says Rhodes.
We’ve allowed ourselves the time to make music that we can be proud of,” adds Le Bon . “I judge what we release by my favourite albums — Horses, Harvest, Let It Bleed, Blue, Transformer, Aladdin Sane. Those are classic albums. The only rule is it’s got to be music you can live with for the rest of your life.”
Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson and Mr Hudson co-wrote, and produced the track Pressure Off and Only in Dreams. The former harks back to the funk-infused sound of Duran Duran’s 1986 album Notorious, which was also co-produced by Rodgers.
“Notorious was a strong touchstone for the band,” says Roger Taylor. “All You Need is Now definitely reflected our earlier albums, but our starting point here was Notorious. We’re fortunate to be able to be inspired by our own back catalogue – not many bands can say that."
You can read more and check upcoming performance dates on their website HERE. Can't wait!!!

MADONNA FRIDAY: LUCKY STAR

"You may be my lucky star, but I'm the luckiest by far" So go the lyrics to the song that initially made me fall head-over-heels in love with Queen Madonna. Although Madonna had already charted with Holiday (#16) and Borderline (#10) in late '83 and early '84 respectively, Lucky Star, the fifth and final single from her debut album, became her first top 5 hit (#4) on the Billboard Hot 100 and showed her sexier, funkier side even more than the two previous tracks. The song was a dance club smash and worldwide hit. Lucky Star has proven to be a fave with Madonna fans (duh!), showing up in most of her concerts to date. The video is also a classic, with Madonna and her two backup dancers (friend Erica Bell and on-again-off-again-evil brother Christopher Ciccone) dressed in black, tattered clothing and dancing against a white backdrop. Simple, but VERY effective in furthering Madonna's image with the public. It's def on of my top Madge tracks of all time. Check out the video for Lucky Star below and "shine your heavenly body tonight".

MADONNA FRIDAY: VIDEO MINI-SERIES - TAKE A BOW AND YOU'LL SEE

Madonna upped the ante with a music video miniseries, if you will, when she decided to make a continuation of her excellent video for Take a Bow. Take a Bow is one of Madonna's biggest chart hits, spending 7 weeks at #1 in February 1995. The video was a lavish production shot in Antequera, Spain. The story revolved around Madonna as a bullfighter's lover who is being ignored. The bullfighter was played by real-life Spanish bullfighter Emilio Munoz. He abuses her emotionally and uses her before eventually abandoning her. WHAT AN ASS!!! You'll See, (#6) released off Madonna's 1995 Something To Remember greatest ballads album, saw the video pick up right where TAB left us. Now Madonna has decided to leave Spain. Her bullfighter lover is feeling remorse and wanting her back. He attempts several times to kill himself over his loss, finally walking into the ocean as Madge's plane flies off overhead. She is fresh out of fucks, y'all! These are both beautiful videos and gorgeous songs. Enjoy Take a Bow and You'll See. Happy Madonna Friday!

THROWBACK THURSDAY: JANET JACKSON'S DEBUT SINGLE, YOUNG LOVE (1982)

Four years before she gained "Control" of her career and became an icon, Janet was an actress trying to make it on TV and the little sister of a musical dynasty of brothers. Her self-titled debut album had no warning of the fierce performer she would become, but Young Love, this sweet little R&B number was an adorable debut for the sweet-faced 16 year-old. Janet wasn't planning on having a career in music, but her father pretty much insisted that she have one, so he set her up with A&M Records and got her ass in the studio. Young Love, her debut single, was a minor success, hitting #64 on the Hot 100 and #6 on the US R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart. Though it didn't catapult her to superstardom, it did make her the first of the Jackson girls to have a Hot 100 hit. LaToya would follow with Heart Don't Lie (#56) and Rebbie with Centipede (#24) both in 1984. Of course, Janet would go on to rival Michael as the most famous and successful Jackson, setting chart records of her own that are yet to be broken. Janet famously performed Young Love and a couple of other songs on American Bandstand. A couple of years later she went back and Dick Clark seems like he is trying to keep his erection from popping out of his pants the entire time he is talking to her. Ha!! At least he waited until she was 18!! Anyway, watch a 16 year-old Janet perform her debut single Young Love.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: ABBA GOLD - FULL ALBUM

ABBA are one of the biggest selling groups of all time. Did you know that? Worldwide they have sold somewhere (depending on reports) 100 and 200 million albums. DAYUM!!! There is zero denying that their songs are some of the catchiest, ear-wormiest (that's not a word) tunes in the history of pop music. ABBA Gold puts together a collection of songs that you will be singing along to for the rest of your life, whether you like it or not. But HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE IT!!!!???? I mean.....With sales in excess of 29 million copies, ABBA Gold is one of the best selling albums ever and it continues to sell every year, y'all!! From the #1 worldwide hit Dancing Queen to the melancholy of The Name of the Game, the disco of Voulez Vous and the camp of Mamma Mia, every song tells a story, sets a mood and draws you into the world of these four kids from Sweden who took the world by storm. So hit play below and feel the world of ABBA today. If it's good enough for Meryl, it's good enough for you. Enjoy!!!

HUMPDAY SEXY SONG: EURYTHMICS - I NEED A MAN

Damn, Annie Lennox can sing!! Back in 1988 Eurythmics were going through their rock and roll resurgence and I Need A Man, from their album Savage, allowed Annie to prowl, growl and tell it like it is....to VERY sexy effect. One of the most recognizable and favorite videos by Eurythmics, directed by the great Sophie Muller, finds Lennox in full sex mode; blond wig, tight dress and tipsy dancing. HOT!! Now, I don't need a man, cuz I'm married, you pervert!! But you might, so here is your Humpday sexy song to dance around to this afternoon. Drink some wine and slur along, sluts! Enjoy and you're welcome, sexy people!

HILARY DUFF RELEASES A TINDER-FREE VERSION OF 'SPARKS' VIDEO

THANK GAWD!! I couldn't make myself watch that Tinder-hocking mess of a video she put out first. Here is the Hilary Duff video for Sparks that you wanted, demanded and are now getting. Enjoy!!

WATCH THE VIDEO FROM THE FINAL CHALLENGE OF EACH SEASON OF RuPAUL'S DRAG RACE

RuPaul is a marketing master mistress!!!!! Each season of her iconic show RuPaul's Drag Race not only introduces America to it's newest drag superstar, but markets the shit out of RuPaul's latest album/single. Each season's last episode (with the exception of All Stars) features the top 3 queens in a music video for Ru's latest single. As you can see below, the more popular the show got, the more production value went into the final product, but I think the ultimate example of Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent goes to Season 6's Sissy That Walk. The song is fierce and those queens worked it!! Well enjoy below and conDRAGulations again to Violet Chachki on winningSeason 7!

RuPAUL CROWNS A QUEEN. TOP 3 RELEASE MUSIC VIDEOS

SPOILER ALERT: And we have a winner!!! RuPaul crowned the winner of Season 7 of RuPaul's Drag Race last night and it was exactly who I thought it should be!!! Violet Chachki took the crown over fellow competitors Ginger Minj and Pearl. As the evening unfolded it was pretty obvious to me who the crowd was behind and who was standing out in the crowd. The lip sync numbers with songs written specifically for the girls showed exactly why Violet was the one to beat. Ginger's number should have been a barn burner, but it fell as flat as a pancake and Pearl, while more entertaining altogether, was -- you guessed it -- flazéda. Violet not only nailed her lip sync but performed the shit out of the number, looked AMAZING and exuded complete confidence. While I will say this season was not as thrilling as past seasons, Violet is a solid queen who earned her crown. NOW, to the surprise of no one, all top three queens released new videos last night. Ginger has gone with a poppy (supposedly) funny song Ooh Lala Lala that fits her feisty personality. I'm not sure where Pearl's voice is in her song Love Slave (I'm guessing it's the muttering in the background) but she looks amazing and makes out with Detox. And is that her own boy-butt she is spanking in the video? I think it is. Violet, on the other hand, makes quite a statement with her naughty video and song Bettie, a tribute of sorts to pinup legend Bettie Page. She wins this competition too. Violet's EP Gagged comes out June 30th and is available for pre-order on iTunes now! So what do you think? Did the right queen win? Watch the top 3 in their videos below.
