REVIEW: SADE - SOLDIER OF LOVE

Sade has finally come back. I was starting to feel like she didn't like me anymore. Her last album with her band (also called Sade), 2000's Lovers Rock, sold 3.9 million copies in the US and she has sold 50 million album worldwide since her debut in 1984 with Diamond Life. Known for her silky smooth voice, elegant orchestrations and beautiful face, Sade's music is meant for lovers. Soldier of Love is no exception. Her sound is still very distinctive, but this album is definitely their sound updated. The voice sometimes dips into a deeper register and there are some harder beats heard, such as on the debut single Soldier of Love (check out Sade looking hotter than ever in the VIDEO). There are gorgeous melodies aplenty from the opening track The Moon and the Sky with it's dreamy guitar to the tinkling piano of Morning Bird. Sade Adu is Nigerian British, and on many songs throughout her career (Sweetest Taboo, Paradise) you can here the desert in her voice. On Soldier of Love it is present in BabyFather, the sexy Skin and the albums' closer, The Safest Place. Sade always takes time between albums since the 90s and this one is SOOOOOOOO worth waiting for. Sade's voice is still impeccable and the melodies will enchant you. This album is bound to gather a ton of Grammys next year. I will give this an A+
