HAWAII HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES KILL CIVIL UNION BILL

Really? Hawaii is such a nice state full of nice people, I can't belive they aren't more evolved than this. The civil union bill that passed through the Senate of the state last week and went to the House, which last year 33 of the 51 members of the House of Reps. voted in favor of civil unions, has been "indefinitely postponed". The fear of election-year backlash was cited by many. Supporters of the bill in the House shouted, "Shame on you!" to the cowards who changed their mind. The civil rights organization Equality Hawaii make a statement saying,""We're sorely disappointed that the Hawaii State House refused to take action on the civil unions bill. Today, the House put its own political interests before the interests of Hawaii's families and that's bad policy and bad politics. We pledge that this fight is not over and we will continue in our efforts to see true equality in our state." Shame on them, in deed. I guess there are still too many people who don't understand the equality that our contitution was SUPPOSED to provide for all of the people in our country. Keep fighting the fight. [source]
