CARLY SIMON DENIES "YOU'RE SO VAIN" IS ABOUT GEFFEN

Not so fast, people!! Reports came out this week that Carly Simon's iconic, mysterious song "You're So Vain" was not about Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty, or a host of other men that have been in the rumor mill for decades, but was in fact about record exec and gay-about-town David Geffen, according to the Daily News. They claim a new recording of the song, when played backwards, says the name "David". She told the paper that there's a little whisper that answers the long time mystery. Now Roger Friedman of Showbiz411.com is saying that he received an email from Carly saying, "What a riot! Nothing to do with David Geffen! What a funny mistake! Someone got a clue mistaken for another mistake!” Hmmm, I would like to see that email if it in fact exists!! But Carly in fact did not even know Geffen when the song was written in 1971, so this is probably true, email or not. The egotistical subject of the song remains a mystery!!!! [source][image]
