FLASHBACK: THE NUMBER ONE SONG TODAY IN 1986 WAS....

"In good times and bad times, I'll be on your side forever more." So goes the chorus of that classic 80s soft-rock classic That's What Friends Are For. Four major (at the time) recording artist got together in 1986 to sing the ode to friendship. Dionne Warwich, Gladys Knight, Elton John and Stevie Wonder, who released the single under the name Dionne and Friends, were pretty powerful players in the music scene in the 80s. I guess today it would be Taylor Swift, Shakira, Kanye West and T-Pain. Hey, my ears are bleeding alreeady. Anyway, the song hit No. 1 on January 18, 1986 and stayed there for four consecutive weeks, going on to become the No. 1 song of 1986. Now the really special thing about this song was the fact that it was recorded as a benefit for American Foundation for AIDS Research, and raised over US$3 million for that cause.
