Do not for a second think you can pull the wool over Bruce Springsteen's eyes, beyotch! Bruce is suing a New York City pub that charged patrons to listen to a band play some of The Boss' songs. Oh, no you didn't!! Connolly's Pub & Restaraunt, on 45th Street in Manhattan, failed to pay an annual licensing fee to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), according to the New York Daily News. That organization is responsible for collecting royalties and distributing those to artists. Senior Vice President for ASCAP, Vincent Candilora, notes, "We had been after them (Connolly's) for complying for over two years, so it's not so much about who or where. Why should those places that are complying with the law be at a competitive disadvantage?" Bruce is not suing for the profits, he is suing to protect the copyrights of his and other composers work. I can't believe people think they can get away with this stuff. It's Manhattan, people!! Word gets around!!! [source]
