AMERICA'S CATHOLIC LEAGUE BITCH ABOUT GAGA'S VIDEO

Look, this is nothing that new. Madonna used religious imagery way back in the 80s. This territory has been covered. America's Catholic League is briging a lot of helpful press to Lady Gaga's brilliant video that she described as "a celebration and an admiration of gay love" by claiming that it's imagery is "Catholic bashing". In a statement they write:
"Lady Gaga is playing Madonna copy cat, squirming around half-naked with half-naked guys, abusing Catholic symbols - they're always Catholic symbols - while bleating out Alejandro enough times to induce vomit... She has now become the new poster girl for American decedence and Catholic bashing, sans the looks and talent of her role model."
There are SEVERAL problems with this statement. I don't believe the image of a cross in any way belongs to Catholics. Secondly, this video is not a copy of Madonna. Sure, some of the images are similar, but the director, Steven Klein, has worked with Madonna also. Lady Gaga responded on twitter saying:
"So many will try to destroy me. So many, over and over, coming in periods of greatness. But in this period, I cannot be broken. ...Prejudice is a disease. And when they come for you, or refuse your worth, I will be ready for their stones..."
Gaga has the back of those she supports and we have hers. All this controversy does is bring more attention, and ultimately more sales, to Gaga. The director, Steven Klein, even denotes just the opposite of Catholic bashing, telling MTV:
"The religious symbolism is not meant to denote anything negative, but represents the character's battle between the dark forces of this world and the spiritual salvation of the soul. Thus at the end of the film, she chooses to be a nun (and she swallows the rosar beads to represent) the desire to take in the holy."
Well there you go. GAGA FOREVER!!! I truly think this might be my second favorite Gaga video of all time (behind Bad Romance). It's gorgeous. I think I'll post it again. Here ya go. [source]
