REVIEW: STACEY Q - COLOR ME CINNAMON

Yes, you read right. Stacey Q, the 80s dance princess with such hits as Two of Hearts and We Connect, is back. Stacey has made a few albums since the 80s, but nothing ever really caught on like her album Better Than Heaven, which contained the two hits mentioned previously. Stacey touched the charts only once more with Don't Make a Fool of Yourself (#66 on the Hot 100), one of my personal faves of the 80s, from her Hard Machine album in 1988. Well her last release was 13 years ago (Boomerang) and now she is back with an album that could have been a direct follow up to her 1986 classic, I mean that in the BEST POSSIBLE WAY!! Color Me Cinnamon is a pure 80s sound with sonic booms and Stacey's cooing over all the electronic and piano beeps and burps. Songs like Trip, Below the Surface, Candy Apple and Fast Getaway will take you to a mid-80s party for sure. What a treat to have Stacey back!!!! By the way FUN FACT: The albums title is in reference to Stacey's famous guest starring turn on the classic 80s sitcom The Facts of Life called "Off-Broadway Baby" as a singer named Cinnamon competing with Tootie for a spot in an off-Broadway play. Both of them are singing Two of Hearts for their audition. Because, you know, Two of Hearts is the PERFECT song for a Broadway audition. HAHAHA!! Anyway, this album is soops fun. You should get a copy at StaceyQOnline or CDBaby. Check out a couple of videos below to see Stacey on The Facts of Life as Cinnamon (she was SKINNY, y'all!!) and to hear excerpts from the album. Dance around, have a good afternoon.
