MADONNATHON: DRESS YOU UP

Dress You Up was the fourth single released from Madonna's already MASSIVE Like a Virgin album, the album that made her an icon, and her sixth consecutive Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song caused quite a bit of controversy upon it's release as it was added to Tipper Gore's list of the "Filthy Fifteen" songs (along with Prince, Sheena Easton, Def Leppard, Cyndi Lauper and others) for what she felt was it's overt sexual content. Hilarious!! I'm sure that doubled it's sales. Tipper also commented on Madonna herself saying, "Popular culture is morally bankrupt, flagrantly licentious and utterly materialistic—and Madonna is the worst of all." Well, if you got it, flaunt it. The video for the song was a clip of Madonna singing Dress You Up during her first ever world tour aptly titled The Virgin Tour. It's a time capsule of sorts showing Madge in all her glory from her earliest days in the spotlight: crazy hair, lace gloves and tights, wild makeup. Makes me yearn for my youth. Enjoy Dress You Up....NOW!!
