KYLIE MINOGUE CONQUERS NEW YORK!! TAKES NO PRISONERS!!

THERE ARE MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS POST, SO IF YOU ARE SEEING KYLIE, DON'T READ ON!!!! Kylie Minogue performed the first of three shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC last night and she did not disappoint!! Kylie put on a caliber of performance matched only by Madonna full of hits and fan faves and MY DREAMS!! I have wanted to see Kylie since the 80s and she never before toured the US, now I am glad to say, that little wish has come true. Kylie opened the show in true diva fashion, coming in from the ceiling on a giant metallic skull dressed as an alien princess. She lead off with Light Years ("My name is Kylie. I'll be your purser) and then launched into Speakerphone, Come Into My World and finishing the first set with In Your Eyes. The next section was set in a high-tech disco. Going into her vast back catalogue, Kylie sang Shocked, What Do I Have to Do, Step Back in Time, Spinning Around and a new song, Better Than Today that she is debuting on this tour. The dancers got to show off their skills (and AMAZY bodies) during this section and Kylie was supes energetic and adorable. Section three kicked up the sexiness a notch as Kylie appeared in a white, military inspired outfit to sing Like a Drug from her album X. She started off Boombox which segued into medley of Can't Get You Out of My Head with the whole crowd singing the lalalalalalalala's. AMAZINESS!!! She brought of some half naked men and some giant glow sticks for Slow and closed the set with a sexy rendition of 2 Hearts. The next section was pure S-E-X. It started off with the male dancers in showers and there giant wet bodies on the video screens. Kylie appeared on a pommel horse and the men put on towles and took off their swim suits underneath only to reveal later they had American flag briefs on under that. Red Blooded Woman was the start of a sexy trio of songs including Heartbeat Rock and a pep-rally inspired Wow! The gigantoid hi-def video screens moved in to show Kylie in old Hollywood glamour, sequins and dramatic makeup as the stage changed to a beautiful New York penthouse, with Kylie as the Greta Garbo-esque star, lonely in her fame. The ballad section was absolutely beautiful. She stared off with a slow version of the Scissor Sisters' penned White Diamond that was inspired by her battle with breast cancer. Confide in Me followed with Minogue showing strong vocals (she sang the entire show live by the way, thank you very much) and finally she sang a ballad version of her hit I Believe in You. The set changed once again to reveal Kylie and the Dancers in sexy black costumes and paying tribute to Madonna (I DIE!!) with the famous name-dropping section of Madge's Vogue. This went seamlessly into Burning Up from Kylie's Fever album. Next was a big-band version of Locomotion, Kylie's first big hit in the US back in '87. She went all out in this part of the show with a brass section of REALLY cute guys. Seriously, even her band was hot!! The audience got a chance to sing-along with Kylie and the back up singers (who were also great) on Kids, her duet with Robbie Williams. Arms went up in the air to sway with the chorus and it really got everything heated up! I was sweating like a whore in church. She ended this section with her hit In My Arms from X. Kylie came back out for her encore to sing Better the Devil You Know, The One and Love at First Sight in a sexy little gold catsuit. I can't express enough how FREAKIN' AMAZILICIOUS Kylie was. She packed her show with fan faves, went ALL OUT on costumes and set design and made a great effort to satisfy her North American fans who have been waiting for sooooooo long to see her. She will always be one of my favorite recording artists, and now I can say she is one of my favorite live acts as well. If you have a chance to you should beg, steal or borrow tickets to see this show the next two nights in NYC. I am going again on Tuesday and I can't wait!!!!!!!
