NEW-ISH MUSIC: LANA DEL REY - VIDEO GAMES

Lana del Rey is pretty new on the music scene. Since debuting a couple of videos on youtube, the singing sensation/controversial figure has caused quite a stir. Some call her a phony, saying she is the product of producers and managers changing her name (from Lizzy Grant) and her image to that of a retro-pinup girl. There is no denying however, IMHO, that this song, Video Games, is dazzling. It's sexy, eerie and beautiful all at once. Three things I love. Lana is also quite beautiful, which always helps when forging a pop career. Where does she fall in with other pop singers? Good question. I would say she's a cross between Lady Miss Kier from the 90s group Deee-lite and Nora Jones with a little dash of Fiona Apple. Do you see that? No? Then you're stupid. JUST KIDDING!!!
