HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELTON JOHN!

Elton John is 64 today!!! I'm the first to admit that I don't post about that many male singers. I loves me a singin' lady. But Sir Elton John is one of my fave singers of all time. A legend by any standard, Elton has inspired and worked with countless artists from Scissor Sisters to Lady Gaga to Tim Rice. Since his first appearance on the charts in 1970, he's had more than 50 top 40 hits, 9 #1 singles and 7 #1 albums, won 6 Grammys AND an Academy Award. Oh, and then there's The Lion King, Aida, et al. Elton aslo formed the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992, and much like the great Elizabeth Taylor, has contributed tirelessly to the fight against HIV/AIDS. The foundation has raised over $200 million to support programs in 55 countries around the world. John and his partner, David Furnish, have been together since 1993. In 1995 they had a star-studded civil union ceremony that reportedly cost around one million pounds. That's British currency, so no fat jokes. Elton is still going strong, singing and giving attitude fit for a queen all over this big, gay world. Celebrate Elton today and listen to the songs below. He is a treasure, that Elton.
