GRAMMY WINNERS AND J. HUD'S TRIBUTE TO WHITNEY HOUSTON

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards were held last night and, big surprise, Adele took home all the Grammys her little arms could carry. The British songbird's amazing year has culminated in her taking home most of the top honors including Record, Song and Album of the year. In all, Adele brought home 6 awards. Kanye West won 4, Foo Fighters picked up five, Skrillex took home 3 and Bon Iver garnered 2 Grammys, including best new artist. Not a lot of variety stepping up to give speeches, but all well deserved. One of the most emotional moments of the night came when Jennifer Hudson delivered a moving rendition I Will Always Love You in memory of Whitney Houston, who passed on Saturday. KE$HA STILL ATOP THE HOT 100

Ke$ha is still rocking the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the seventh week in a row and Lady Gaga's Bad Romance is back up from #3 to #2 for its seventh week, but there were some new songs from the Hope for Haiti concert making some progress on the chart as well. After the album debuted at #1, the song Hallelujah by Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris sits at #13, Lean on Me by Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock and Keith Urban debuts at #47, Taylor Swift's Breathless is at 72 and Jennifer Hudson's amazy cover of the Beatles' Let It Be is in at #98. All the profits from the songs go to Hope for Haiti and the relief effort after the devastating earthquake. Great cause, great music. Buy now.

JENNIFER HUDSON TO PLAY WINNIE MANDELA ON SCREEN

Jennifer Hudson, former American Idol contestant and Oscar winner for Dreamgirls, is set to play Winnie Mandela, the former wife of the South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela according to Variety. Winnie Mandela's past is a complicated one. While a strong supporter of her husband, even being jailed for campaigning for his release from jail, and a mother to Mandela's children, Winnie was also associated with a bodyguard who killed a 14-year-old alleged informer and was later convicted of fraud. The film will focus on both sides of her story. “I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Hudson said. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.” While Hudson won accolades for her portrayal of Effie in Dreamgirls, her acting ability has been less than stellar in subsequent projects. Maybe this is the material that will bring her back to form. Hope so. Maybe she'll record a stirring anthem. She's not going...... [picture source]
