MADONNA FRIDAY: AMERICAN LIFE. IN HONOR OF VETERANS' DAY

In honor of Veterans' Day and Madonna Friday, here is Madonna's most obvious political statement ever. Now, don't misinterpret Madonna's message in this, the original, uncut video for American Life. The scenes of war and injured soldiers, starving children and violence are presented as a fashion show to mark a protest against then-President Bush's complete lies that started a war that we are just now seeing coming to an end. Madonna withdrew the video at the last minute because people assumed she was criticizing the troupes, when in fact she was trying to make a statement in support of them and help bring the needless war to a close. Essentially, leaving out the politics, what we have here is an amazingly choreographed video with beautiful cinematography, a great song and one of the most underrated efforts of Madonna's career. The backlash killed the song and the album needlessly. Pay attention to the video and the song and draw conclusions for yourself. I think it's a great statement in support of our men and women who were being sent overseas to serve our country, and a harsh criticism of why they were sent by our government. A lot to think about from one pop music video, huh?
