If you have seen the uber-amazy trailer for the US version of the film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo you may have noticed a new version of a very familiar song. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's have done a super-dark, industrial cover of Led Zeppelin's 1970 song Immigrant Song. Both the film and the song look and sound fantastic!!! Watch the very exciting clip for the "feel bad movie of Christmas", The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Hot!

LADY GAGA'S BORN THIS WAY ALBUM SET TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD
Lady Gaga's amazy album Born This Way had it's first big debut in the UK this week, starting in the top spot with the highest selling first week of any album in that country for this year with 215,000 units sold. That edges out Adele's 21 which charted with 208,000 in it's first week out. Born This Way's release also vaulted her first album, The Fame, back into the top 10 at #7. Damn. Now in the US Born This Way is blasting projections and will sell well over a MILLION copies in it's first week. On it's first day of release alone the album shifted 550,000 units and the 99 cent offer on Amazon (which shut down the site's server by the way) drove it up even further. Billboard reports "iTunes totaled 104,000 units; Best Buy, 45,000 units; Target, 35,000 units and Starbucks, 10,000 units. Consequently, industry prognosticators project that Best Buy will hit 200,000 units by the end of the SoundScan week on May 29; Target will reach 150,000; Wal-Mart will hit 125,000, and iTunes will hit 200,000 units". The album has already debuted at #1 in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, and Sweden. Go, GAGA!!! Of course I already reviewed the disc and LOVE it. Gaga for president! Here is Lady Gaga's performance of her single Edge of Glory from last week's American Idol finale. It's hot.

HILIARIOUS SNL DIGITAL SHORT: THREE WAY WITH JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE AND LADY GAGA
Funny stuff, Andy Samberg. SNL pulled out one of the best digital shorts of the season for their finale last night. Andy Samberg once again teams up with Justin Timberlake for Three Way, an ode to the golden rule of when it's okay to have sex with another guy. In a three way "it's not gay". Ha. Lady Gaga is the lady in the sandwich. Totally 80s fashioned out, the boys and Gaga sing a hilarious song and the mothers from Mother Lover even make an appearance. Check it out below.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHER! THE DIVA IS 65 TODAY
Seems like only yesterday I was rocking a 45 year-old Cher in my arms singing The Shoop Shoop Song until she fell asleep. Now she's all grown up and has two grown sons and a collection of wigs as far as the eye can see. Cher is seriously a living legend and an American treasure. Few artists have achieved and maintained the level of superstardom that Cher has around the world. For instance, she is the only artist to have a #1 hit on a Billboard chart for SIX DECADES!!! She has an Oscar too. Top that, bitches!!! Cher is 65 today. Wow. With a new album in the works (due out this year), plans to direct, and possibly another tour (sorry those of you who went to the "farwell" tour), Cher is showing absolutely no signs of stopping anytime soon. Good. We need us some Cher in this world. Here are some of my fave Cher hits from the beginning of time until now. Gay holiday!!!

SONG-BY-SONG REVIEW OF LADY GAGA'S BORN THIS WAY
So just because I'm not buying it from iTunes until Tuesday (and you should too!) doesn't mean that if I have a chance to listen to and review Lady Gaga's new album I shouldn't do it. So there. I told you, didn't I? If you haven't enjoyed the tracks released already (and I have) fret not, there are PLENTY of things to make you happy here. Incredibly happy in fact. You might even feel very different about those songs hearing them in the context of this record. Gaga doesn't abandon those who loved her for a reason. Don't worry. Here is my track-by-track review of Born This Way by Lady Gaga.
1. Marry The Night - leading off the album is the song that some of us heard through Lady Gaga's Farmville association. Marry the Night starts off with organs, a la Phantom of the Opera, but the electroshock kicks in the first minute and pounds us through to the end. Is there a twinge of Like a Prayer in there? Sure. Is it as blatant as some people will say it is? Hell no. It's its own monster completely. Rough and loud. Great opener.
2.Born This Way - you all already know this song. It's spent most of 2011 on the top of the charts, so I don't think we need to go through this, do we?
3.Government Hooker - first of all, I love this title!! Ha. Starting us off with a some faux opera "Gaga"s, Government Hooker bleeps and jerks to life with a sick electro beat that Depeche Mode would have killed for. "I can be good..." starts us off on a list of things that Gaga can be for you. "As long as I'm your hooker..." is repeated to the object of the song over and over. Gaga sounds purely evil in the sexiest possible way on this one. Truly a standout on the album, Government Hooker is begging for a dancefloor. "Put your hands on me, John F. Kennedy..." Hot.
4.Judas- of course, this song's been on this blog several times. Again, no need to retread. I love it. Some hate it. I'm right. They're wrong.
5.Americano- Gaga brings back the Latin vibe for this track that she explored on Alejandro. Complete with a "lalalalalalala" hook, Americano seems to be at once about gay marriage and immigration law, perhaps about the people being deported because of the unfair laws against gay marriage in this country. A lot of words in Spanish (I don't speak the language), not as good as Alejandro IMHO, but still catchy as hell.
6.Hair- much in the same vein as Edge of Glory (see 17), Hair is an 80s throwback anthem that uses Gaga's hair as a symbol of her freedom and individuality. I'll admit that when I first heard this track I was unsure, but with repeated listening and put in context of the album, it's got a pretty solid groove. Again, loud and brassy is what Gaga does and this is that in spades. Even makes me think of an updated song from the musical Hair. If they remake the movie, hey....
7.Scheiße- "I don't speak German but I can if you like..." Okay. I would like a lot. And then she does. This German word translates literally to "shit". The song is anything but. Super hot dance song. Great beat, a million hooks in one song. Another club sure thing. I really hope Gaga makes a video for this song, because I would love to see what she does with this visually. The voice is in full diva mode in the bridge. Love love love this track.
8.Bloody Mary- there are some religious overtones thrown in to this song, but much like Judas, it's no offense. "Dance with my hands above my head like Jesus said." I don't think he ever said that, so she is clearly taking artistic license. Calm down. This song reminds me of Duran Duran songs from Seven and the Ragged Tiger. It's new wave and romantic, slow and dark. It's a slow moment in the album right when we need it. It's an intense disc, y'all! This is a nice song. Heavy drum break the middle with a Gregorian like "Gaga" chant that I die for.
9.Black Jesus † Amen Fashion- another dark track, nicely place in the album. Very gothic sounding. Gaga talks about her early days in the New York scene, going for it with all her guts and glory. "I am..on the runway. Dressed in his best. I am fashion...on the runway. Work it, Black Jesus." She is Black Jesus!!! Who isn't. Ha. Dramatics are her thing afterall. This song is freakin' sexy and a sort of goth Vogue, if you will. All glitz and sweat. It's Gaga.
10.Bad Kids- a rebel song. Crunching guitars start off with some "freedom" lyrics, which run throughout the album. This is a rock and roller with a hard, grungy undertone rocking along to a dance beat. The chorus is a sweet-sounding break with that leads to one of the catchiest, 80s-like choruses on the record. Not really single material, but a great car driving jam.
11.Fashion of His Love- (available on the special edition only) lest we forget, Gaga loves her some fashion. She has even been honored for her fashion by the CFDA after all. Talking about insecurities she's had, but how a love has given her confidence. "I was made for lovin' him. Fashion of his love" are some samle lyrics. You see where she's going with this. Sweet electro track. All love and stars and unicorns here. Oh, and of course you can shake your ass to it.

Sweet electro track. All love and stars and unicorns here. Oh, and of course you can shake your ass to it.
12.Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)- speaking of unicorns... another title to die for. What? Who names a song this? Gaga, that's who. Killer chorus leads of us to a rhythmic beat and anthemic lyrics, Highway Unicorn is all power chords and fist in the air music. Gaga finds herself on a "road to love" and is picking up as many as she can with the dirty electro-trash sound and wails of the power of love. Celine would love to get her hands on this one. Gaga's voice is so awesome it made me love a song called Highway Unicorn (Road to Love).
13.Heavy Metal Lover- sleazy, dirty sounds are permiating this song. "I want your whiskey mouth all over my blond south.." OH MY!! Tell us what you really want, slut!! This song is not metal at all, but it's something much more satisfying to me: sexy electronic dance fever. You can hear the old Fame Monster in here, especially it's track Monster I think. Sort of an updated version of I Feel Love by Donna Summer perhaps. That's all good, by the way. Definitely a sexy-time song.
14.Electric Chapel- another song Gaga released on her Farmville venture, GagaVille, Electric Chapel is so dark it's light. Does that make sense? No. Oh well. Riffs and bells and chimes rumble along in the back as a straight up dance groove gets the songs message of lust and dance across. Eurythmics come to mind in the sleepy vocal and heavy synth production. Again, like most of the songs on here, the hooks are plentiful beyond belief. "If you want me, meet me at Electric Chapel". Duh!
15.The Queen- Gaga does 60s girl group? Kinda. There are hints of Leader of the Pack and such in here, but the way Gaga does it. Girl power is the theme here. The repeated expression of confidence and self-respect are running through this track. Not a single-worthy song, but it shows a new side of Gaga that shows a musicality she's not tried before. It's her True Blue, if you will. No, it doesn't sound like it, douche. It's just a point of comparison. Love you.
16.You and I- this song hasn't exactly been kept a secret. She performed in on her Monster Ball tour and even on Oprah, but we finally get it in all it's produced, studio glory and it's a doozey! Much like Speechless on Fame Monster, You and I recalls the old honky-tonk 70s efforts of Elton John, Queen or Aerosmith, but Gaga goes all out and blows it away here. The voice is simply amazing in this song, rockin' out with the best of 'em. Sounds like Def Leppard singing backup, but I think we would know if it was. The song ends with a repeated hook worthy of Hey Jude. Gaga rules it on this one.
17.Edge of Glory- after hearing the entire album, I can't imagine a better way to end it than with this anthem. Written for her grandfather after he died, this song is about love, living life to it's best and going for it in general. Inspiration is the key word and she is living it to the hilt. You've all heard this one. It debuted at #3 on the Hot 100 this week, so educate yourself if you haven't.
There you have it. Needless to say, I'm in love with the record already. I had my doubts and fears that Gaga wouldn't live up to the hype on her sophmore effort, but those doubts are as dead as doornail now. Born This Way is a revelation in every way. Don't be afraid to love it. It's as good as you'd hoped.
PREVIEW FOR NBC'S NEW SHOW, SMASH
Is this how Glee is going to die? It's a show about a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a Braodway musical about Marilyn Monroe. Whew! Sounds complicated, but it's actually not. This preview has got me HOOKED!!!! Watch Debra Messing, Anjelica Houston, Megan Hilty, Katherine McPhee and more in the amazing preview for Smash. The music sounds amazy, the performances look spectacular and I'm always on board with Steven Spielberg, the executive producer. I can't wait!!!
GAGA MORE POWERFUL THAN OPRAH?
According to the all-powerful list makers at Forbes Magazine, Gaga is the #1 most powerful celebrity in the world. Gaga tops the list not only because of income, but because of her ginormous presence in social media. According to their research, Lady Gaga earned $92 million last year, has over 32 million facebook fans and 9.5 million followers on her twitter account. Damn! Of course, Oprah is not exactly crying. She lands at #2 and earned $290 million last year. Yes, you read that right. Forbes compiles the list by using five categories. Lady Gaga ranks #1 in “social” and “web,” #2 in “press,” and #3 in “TV/radio” and 8th in “money.” Winfrey was tops in money and TV/radio. Both ladies are very influential and powerful and have earned their place on this list. Here is to many more years of both these powerful women ruling the world.
ALBUM COVER FOR BEYONCE'S 4
Beyonce has named her next album 4. The reason is that it's her fourth album, the day of her birth (September), the day of husband Jay-Z's birth (December) AND their wedding day (April). Justified? Yes. Anyhoo, here is the FIERCE cover for the album revealed today. She looks GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! 4 will be released June 28th. Why not the 4th? Ha.
GAGA DEBUTS AT #3 WITH EDGE OF GLORY
Lady Gaga has struck gold again with the third single from Born This Way, Edge of Glory. The track debuts at #3 this week, less than a week before the album drops. Nice! The top spot is still held by Adele's Rolling in the Deep and #2 is the almost unstoppable Katy Perry with E.T. This looks good fir GAGA'S album after a somewhat lukewarm reception to Judas. We're in full Monster mode now!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRACE JONES!!
Grace Jones, legendary disco freak and old school Studio 54 maven is 63 today! Grace is truly a one-of-a-kind lady, always saying and doing something shocking, even after all these years. Her last album, Hurricane, saw her back to making records in fine form. Here's to many more years of zaniness!! Happy birthday, Grace! Enjoy yourself some Grace below.
NEW VIDEO: BEYONCE - RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS)
Well the song isn't exactly hitting it out of the park on the charts (I don't think it's THAT bad) but that doesn't stop B from giving it her all in the video. Here's the post-apocalyptic, girl power of Run the World (Girls). Work! This video kinda kicks ass. It's aggressive, hard and sets quite a tone. My theory is that the second official release from the album will be more pop-friendly and she put out the most out-there track first to set up the album. Sort of like Christina did with Dirrty then Beautiful. Remember? Anyway, here's the video.

MORE FROM GAGAVILLE: ELECTRIC CHAPEL
UPDATE: ELECTRIC CHAPEL REMOVED FROM YOUTUBE, BUT I PUT A SNIPPET OF THE SONG BELOW SO YOU CAN GET THE FEEL OF IT. Here is another Lady Gaga track released via her FarmVille collab, Electric Chapel. Not the best quality, but you can get the gist. I like. Very guitar heavy, epic kind of sound. Darker than Hair or Edge of Glory. Has that 80s new wave sound to it a bit also. Whatcha think? Born This Way is out May 23rd.
FLASHBACK AND BIRTHDAY: MARTIKA
80s pop princess Martika turns 42 today! Martika became famous for being on the very popular kids, Saturday morning show Kids Incorporated. K-I-D-S! After appearing on the show for two seasons, Martika signed to CBS records and put out her first album Martika. The song Toy Soldiers shot to #1 on the Hot 100 in the summer of 1989. Two more songs from that album hit the top 40: More Than You Know (#18) and the Carol King cover I Feel the Earth Move (#25). Martika was a pop star. Her next album, Martika's Kitchen, had several songs written for her by Prince, who approached her in 1991 about a collaboration. One of the songs that resulted of their work together, Love...Thy Will Be Done, became a top 10 hit in the U.S. and kicked off the album. Also coming from that collab was the song Martika's Kitchen, which is a thinly veiled song about (in true Prince form) Martika's vagina. Of course. And it's ah-mazing! (watch it below) Subsequent singles from the album failed to match that success in the U.S., but the album did much better overseas. Not much happened after the second album for Martika, sadly. Her voice and style were very unique, not to mention how pretty she is, and I still play those old songs sometimes. Toy Soldiers went on to be famously sampled by Eminem on his 2004 top 40 song Like Toy Soldiers. Martika still writes and sings backup for other artists, but her mark on pop music has been made. Enjoy some classic Martika below. Happy birthday!!
SF GIANTS ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR "IT GETS BETTER VIDEO"
The team of my (imaginary) boyfriend Brian Wilson, the San Francisco Giants, have announced plans for and anti-homophobia "It Gets Better Video". The team was already planning on showing such a vid at their next LGBT Night home game, but a petition started by Sean Chapin, a long time fan of the team and San Francisco resident, sped the process along. The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
"In an interview Monday, (Sean) Chapin, a 35-year-old accountant who lives in San Francisco and works in Oakland, described the team's decision, announced Monday, as a "breaking bubble" that will have profound reverberations.
Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said that the team had been thinking of joining the campaign before Chapin started his petition drive, but that his efforts speeded things up. She said the exact content of the video and which, if any, players or members of the coaching staff will participate have not been determined."
Amazing! For a pro sports team to go out of their way to make LGBT fans feel welcome is one thing, but to make a national spot for a great cause is beyond what almost any team as a whole has ever done. Congrats on being not only the home of the hottest baseball player ever since the beginning of time (I'm speculating since he's the only baseball player I actually know) but also being the home of tolerance and acceptance in the professional sports world. On another not, I finally got my "Fear the Beard" t-shirt in the mail and I can't wait to wear it.

ROBYN PERFORMS CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND ON JIMMY KIMMEL
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: THE ADULTERATOR HAD A LOVE CHILD
Oh my! Seems there was more to the story of the sad split between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. A lot more. Arnold announced earlier today that the reason for the split is that he fathered a child with the couple's household staffer OVER TEN YEARS AGO!!! What? How could you keep a secret like that for that long? If anyone could it's The Terminator. Maria only recently found out and it's what caused their split. Arnold said in a statement today:
"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
Wow. What a bomb to drop on someone. The mother of the child worked for the couple for 20 years and although Maria knew that the child existed, she did NOT know that Arnold was the father. The staffer retired years ago with a healthy severence package. Arnold is supporting the child. Maria and Arnold have four kids of their own. Damn.

HILLARY CLINTON RELEASES STATEMENT MARKING INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA DAY
Secretary of State Hilary Clinton released a statement to mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States.
"In every part of the world, men and women are persecuted and attacked because of who they are or whom they love. Homophobia, transphobia and the brutal hostility associated with them are often rooted in a lack of understanding of what it actually means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). So to combat this terrible scourge and break the cycle of fear and violence, we must work together to improve education and support those who stand up against laws that criminalize love and promote hate. As we mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia this May 17, let us resolve to redouble our efforts.
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am proud to reaffirm our support for LGBT communities at home and abroad, and to call for an end to discrimination and mistreatment of LGBT persons wherever it occurs. Whether by supporting LGBT advocates marching in Belgrade, leading the effort at the United Nations to affirm the human rights of LGBT persons, or condemning a vile law under consideration in Uganda, we are committed to our friends and allies in every region of the world who are fighting for equality and justice. These are not Western concepts; these are universal human rights.
Despite these gains and hard work, there is more to do to turn the tide of inequality and discrimination against the LGBT community. If you are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, know that the United States stands with you and we are unwavering in our commitment to ending this cycle of hate."
Strong, powerful words and I have nothing to add to that except thank you to Mrs. Clinton for your continued support of our cause.

MORE NEW GAGA: MARRY THE NIGHT (on FarmVille?)
As you may or may not know, Lady Gaga is releasing a few songs on FarmVille. Yes, the game on facebook. All this time I thought it was just an annoying thing that people kept asking me to join and now it turns out all those nerds are hearing new Gaga before me! Ha. GagaVille, as it's called, lets users complete tasks to unlock special streams of Born This Way before its release. Here is the track Marry the Night in full. It's got heavy organs, gothic undertones and some hard hitting electronica. Exciting stuff!! This may be my fave of the streamed tracks so far. Whatcha think?

LADY GAGA: HAIR
Here is another track from Gaga's upcoming album Born This Way called Hair. Hair is another throw back in a way, starting off with a similar feel to Edge of Glory, but busting out more electronic stuff as the song moves on. Clarence Clemons once again lends his sexy sax to the song. The song is about being yourself and being as "free as my hair". I mean, I can certainly relate. I believe that 90% of my personality is my hair. Born This Way is out next week, the 23rd, and if you've bought all the tracks on iTunes that have been released it will be taken off the price of the full album, so get it, girl! I'm so excited for the album!!!

NEW MUSIC: ALEX GAUDINO FT. KELLY ROWLAND - WHAT A FEELING
AWESOME!!! I'm in love with this song! What an amazy summer dance single. Kelly Rowland does that thing she does so well, teaming up with DJs for one-off singles that rock out world. Remember When Love Takes Over with David Guetta? Now she joins Italian DJ Alex Gaudino for What a Feeling, an infectious club jam that will have you shakin' dat azz in no time. How cool am I? Nice vocals, Kelly.
LADY GAGA PERFORMS EDGE OF GLORY LIVE!
Gaga surprised fans at the BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend with a live version of her brand new single Edge of Glory. She wrote the song and dedicates the it to her grandfather. She sounds amazing on the tune and, of course, she puts a spin on it that makes it unique, like she does for most live performances. The audience even participates by singing along. Yay! Check it out below. Also, remember that the song Hair from her forthcoming album Born This Way will be on iTunes later today as a lead up to the release of the disc next week. GAGA!
NEW SIMON CURTIS: SUPERHERO
I profiled the cutie Simon Curtis back in March. His album, 8-bit Heart, had been releaesed, for free, exclusively through his website and moved around 200,000 copies! Not bad. Well now the former Nickelodeon actor is ready to release more music to the world (for $ this time). Here is his brand new single Superhero. It's nice to hear a male voice on a dance record. (Hear that, Justin?) Simon's next album, Ra, is to be released sometime in 2011. Let's hope it's all as fun as this single. Watcha think?
DURAN DURAN PERFORMS IN CANNES FOR AIDS AWARENESS
Duran Duran are still rockin' out all over the world. The legendary band recently performed at the Cannes Film Festival, using their show as a platform to promote not only their latest album, All You Need is Now, but also their sponsor,(RED) organization to bring awareness to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The band performed at a VIP event sponsored by Belvedere and talked about their special connection to Cannes. "When we came to record our third album, we rented a big chateau just outside of Cannes in the mountains and spent all of our time writing, recording and coming down here to party in the evening, so great memories, really great memories of this town," said drummer Roger Taylor. Sweet! here is the band from their UNSTAGED concert with their latest single, Girl Panic! It's awesome too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALISON GOLDFRAPP!!
YEA!!! Gay Holiday !! Alison Goldfrapp, lead singer of my fave band Goldfrapp, is 45 today!! I've seen Goldfrapp in concert four times now and every time it gets better and better. Alison is truly one of a kind. Goldfrapp is between albums right now, so my life has come to a complete stand still. So until then celebrate Alison in all her glory with some of her amazy videos below. You won't regret it, bitches.

JUST KIDDING: GAGA DECIDES EDGE OF GLORY IS THIRD SINGLE
Gaga's team said earlier this week that the release of Edge of Glory on iTunes this past Monday was simply promo for the upcoming Born This Way album. BUT overwhelming fan response has made Lady Gaga decide that EOG IS in fact going to be the third single from the album. Before Gaga had said that she wanted fans to pick the third single themselves after the album's release, and it looks like they sort of did it anyway. Edge of Glory is currently sitting at #1 on iTunes and it has also grown on me. I love it to pieces now. So here we go again. Edge of Glory is on. Do I smell an 80s inspired, power anthem video in the works? Oh, no. That was just me.

KIRSTIE ALLEY GETS ALMOST PERFECT SCORE WITH ARGENTINE TANGO
Move over Evita, Kirstie is on your tail. Last night on Dancing With the Stars (which, for the record) I don't watch) Kirstie Alley and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy gave a near perfect performance (by DWTS standards) of the Argentine Tango. After a nasty fall during rehearsals, Kirstie kicked it up a notch and killed during performance. Go, Kirstie. How great does she look???? Hot mamma. Bitch is 60 YEARS OLD!!!! Yay!
NEW LESLIE HALL: HYDRATE JIRATE
HILARIOUS!!! Leslie Hall, Mother Gem, has done it again. Watch the new video for her song Hydrate Jirate. It's a ha-ha smorgasbord! Following the tradition of her other hits like Gold Pants and Zombie Killer, Leslie once again blends comedy and an actual fun song together with crazy outfits and plus-sized dancers. Check her out! No word on a new album on her website or wikipedia, so I guess this will have to do for now. GO! UPDATE!!! Leslie is working on a new album right now called Destination Friendship (The Feelings Album) and is hoping to have it out in August/September to tour. Here's the tracklist:

ANOTHER GAGA SONG HITS iTUNES NEXT MONDAY: HAIR
FUN!! Like Katy Perry did with her Teenage Dream album, Gaga is releasing a song each week leading up to the release of Born This Way. This week we got the 80s influenced Edge of Glory, and next week we get Hair. Fun!!! The next week will be the release of Born This Way (May 23rd) and if you've purchased all the singles on iTunes you can use the "complete my album" feature to get the album at a reduced price. I can't wait to hear the whole album in the order intended.
OPRAH IS COMING TO BROADWAY
Of course she is. What CAN'T this woman make happen. Oprah Winfrey has announced that she is working on a dream she's had forever: performing on Broadway! The Big O tells the Chicago Tribune:
"I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading. And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen... Life is too short. I think that an ensemble production is the way I should go."
Winfrey discussed her desire to join the show Fences, which was on Broadway with Denzel Washington last season, but her schedule would not permit it.
"I had always wanted to do Fences. I went through the idea of trying to take my show to New York, shoot a show during the daytime and appear on Broadway at night. But I couldn't do it. And finally, Kenny (the director) said he couldn't wait any longer."
Well, now she's gonna do it herself. Winfrey is also reportedly starring in the film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winning play Ruined. Looks like we're going to see "actress Oprah" again soon. YAY!

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER & MARIA SHRIVER SEPARATE
OH NO!! This makes me sad. After 25 years of marriage, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have decided they need some time apart. While there is no talk of divorce, the couple released the following statement:
"This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together."
I hope they are able to work it out. They have been together forever (by Hollywood and political standards) and they have four kids. Good luck, Governator!

NEW LADY GAGA: EDGE OF GLORY
Here it is. The song released on iTunes today in anticipation of Lady Gaga's May 23rd release of Born This Way, Edge of Glory, is here. It's much more a traditional, dare I say, 80s sounding pop song than expected. It even has some old school sexaphone! How long has it been since we've heard that on a pop record? Very unexpected. The melody, of course, is very good, as with all Gaga, but it's going to take a little getting used to for me. Again, her people did stress, this is not a single, just a build up to the release of Born This Way. What do you think?

I fell asleep half way through, so I won't comment on it. Watch for yourself, especially if you need a nap.
LADY GAGA TO DEBUT NEW SONG ON iTUNES TODAY
Lady Gaga will be debuting a new song, Edge of Glory, from her forthcoming album Born This Way on iTunes today. In a tweet yesterday Gaga announced, "My song THE EDGE OF GLORY will be released on iTunes tomorrow to begin the countdown to album release!" Adding later on, "Out tomorrow 1pm PDT. Another shot before we kiss the other side. I'm on the edge of something final we call life." Her reps are saying Edge is not an official single, but some speculate the lukewarm response to Judas has pushed the label to release another song to pump up anticipation for Born This Way, out May 23rd. I personally love Judas, but I know some were not amused. Her UK management stresses, "To clarify: The Edge of Glory is the first track of an iTunes Countdown promotion running in the lead-up to the release of the album Born This Way on 23 May. iTunes will make an official announcement today." Whatever the case may be, I am ALWAYS excited for new Gaga, so it's a win-win for me. Anyhoo, here is the cover art released yesterday. I can't wait!

DIVA DAY: SPICE GIRLS, BRITNEY SPEARS, CHRISTINA AGUILERA
THREE FOR ONE! The late 90s brought on a whole new type of diva. GIRL POWER and teen diva. The Spice Girls (Scary, Sporty, Baby, Posh and Ginger) had a string of hits in the late 90s, cementing their place as the biggest girl group of all time. Eventually breaking up and then getting together for a world conquering tour, the Girls have all done solo work (all of which I have), but nothing can touch the phenomena of The Spice Girls. Britney and Christina came out the same year. Both are ex-Mouseketeers, both were under-age, and both had something special. Christina had more of the voice, but Britney proved to be a sassy, sexy little vixen in her videos. It's a rivalry for the ages: Team Britney or Team Christina. I go back and forth depending on the makeup and what stage of weight loss they are at. I like to judge them soley on their outer appearance. Who doesn't? Both have gone on to be famous messes, but they are still around. Ups and downs are part of the game I guess. Anyhoo, here are the Spice Girls (2 Become 1), Britney Spears (I'm a Slave 4 U) and Christina Aguilera (Dirrty). Enjoy.
DIVA DAY: WHITNEY HOUSTON, CELINE DION
WHAT? Yes, together on the same post. Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, arguably the two greatest voice in pop music, are divas to end all divas. Though Whitney turned out to be somewhat erratic (to say the least) the one thing you cannot take away from these two are their ability to evoke any and every emotion through their voices. Very different in delivery, but equally powerful, when these two are at the top of their game they are untouchable. Enjoy some Whitney Houston (I Have Nothing)and Celine Dion(River Deep Mountain High). You're welcome.
DIVA DAY: JANET JACKSON, PAULA ABDUL
What can I say about either of these two. The mid-80s were owned by slick, dance oriented pop and nobody but nobody (except Madonna) did it better than Janet and Paula. Of course, it's no secret that a lot of Janet's early moves came from Paula, which in turn gave Paula a shot at a recording career, which she had in spades. From '86 and for a number of years, these two were untouchable. The pop perfection and dance moves speak for themselves. Here are Janet Jackson (The Pleasure Principle) and Paula Abdul
DIVA DAY: IRENE CARA, CYNDI LAUPER
Oooooh, I lived for these two. I danced around, twirling and rubbing my thighs a la Jennifer Beals to Irene Cara's Flashdance.. What a Feeling for a solid year. No joke. I was obsessed. Poor management lead to a woefully short career for Irene who, by any standard, should have become a mega-star. Her voice, acting and charisma were top notch. I have listened to her album What a Feeling about 3 million times and counting. Love her! Anyone who reads my blog know how I feel about Cyndi Lauper. She is truly one of the most unique talents in the music business and such an inspiration for a generation of artists. There is no stopping her even today as she shows range with each album. Here are two of my fave divas for you: Irene Cara (Why Me) and Cyndi Lauper (She Bop).
DIVA DAY: OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN, DONNA SUMMER
This is a day of divas. All the ladies I grew up loving from a youngin' til now. I AM LEAVING MADONNA OFF THIS LIST BECAUSE I WORSHIP HER EVERY DAY ON HERE!!! Just a heads-up. My two first diva crushes ever were Olivia and Donna. I fell in love the second I heard their voices and saw them. Yes, I had more gay in me at five than most of you will have your whole life. I remember listening to Olivia Newton-John records at my Papaw's house. His second wife had a collection of LPs and Olivia was the one I always chose. Of course, she started off country, but I REALLY fell in love when she went all "Sandy 2" on our asses. As for Ms. Summer, I recall dancing around with my sister Wendy in her room in San Antonio, Tx listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40 and Dim All the Lights coming on. Sigh. I danced the night away. So here are my first two divas of the day Olivia (A Little More Love) and Donna (She Works Hard for the Money).

JENNIFER LOPEZ PERFORMS ON AMERICAN IDOL
AND she sang live! Go, Jenny! Jennifer Lopez performed her hit single On the Floor with Pitbull last night on American Idol, taking advantage of her judge position there, and I have to say, I'm impressed. Jennifer sang live, danced her famous ass off and looked GORGEOUS doing it! Color me Lopez'ed. Watch her go.
NEW NICKI MINAJ: SUPER BASS
"Somebody please tell him who the F' I is" Nobody needs to, gurl! Nicki Minaj unleashes her latest single and video from the deluxe version of her amazy #1, platinum album Pink Friday called Super Bass. The video is cute deluxe, that's for sure, and the song is catchy as all hell. Yay! Summer song!!! Nicki recently announced she is joining Britney Spears on her summer Femme Fatale tour starting in June. That should be fun. Anyhooooooooo.......watch the blacklit, hyper-bright colored video below. Good times, Nicki.

LADY GAGA ON OPRAH TODAY!!
Lady Gaga stopped by The Oprah Winfrey Show today to give a little mini-concert for the very last Harpo's Hook-Ups show. Gaga sang an acoustic Born This Way and her song You and I on a giant high-heeled shoe designed by her sister. I know. It's always something with this girl. Anyway, needless to say she tore it up! Then there was a little lovefest between the ladies. Gaga is the best and so is Oprah. Watch below.

IT'S HERE!!!! NO WAITING OR SITTING THROUGH AMERICAN IDOL!! YAY!!! It's leather, it's motorcycles, it's biblical, it's hot. Watch the new video for Lady Gaga's latest single Judas. I have to say, I very much enjoy the choreography in this video. The imagry is cool too and it follows the story of Mary Magdalene and Jesus (loosely) in an updated, modern way. I love it. BILL CLINTON SPEAKS OUT IN SUPPORT OF MARRIAGE EQUALITY IN NEW YORK
Former President Bill Clinton has come out in support of gay marriage in New York State. In a statement to New Yorkers for Marriage Equality Mr. Clinton states:
"Our nation's permanent mission is to form a ‘more perfect union’ - deepening the meaning of freedom, broadening the reach of opportunity, strengthening the bonds of community. That mission has inspired and empowered us to extend rights to people previously denied them. Every time we have done that, it has strengthened our nation. Now we should do it again, in New York, with marriage equality. For more than a century, our Statue of Liberty has welcomed all kinds of people from all over the world yearning to be free. In the 21st century, I believe New York's welcome must include marriage equality."
What an important endorsement from Clinton, who in 2009 reversed his prior opposition to marriage equality saying he "was wrong". Clinton still carries political clout with a wide demographic, so hopefully his words will knock some sense into people. Now this statement makes it clear what his position is. With Governor Cuomo pushing marriage equality hard right now, things look good for the citizens of New York.

PREVIEW SHOT FROM JUDAS VIDEO: COMING TONIGHT!!!
Tonight is the night! Lady Gaga's is set to debut the video for her new single Judas tonight during American Idol. Set your DVRs so you don't have to sit through all that muck to get the vid. Here is a screen shot she posted on her twitter with these words:
"THE JUDAS KISS: a betrayal of a prophecy fulfilled? Thank you for trending, I'm so honored #JUDASTOMORROW."
Cool! The single has not been exactly surging up the charts since its debut, but maybe the video will put it back in public favor. Let's see....
