MOVING 'THAT'S A GOOD BLOG' TO TUMBLR

After over six years and 3,362 posts I have decided to consolidate my online presence a little and move my blog posts to my TUMBLR account. I have been posting and re-posting for a while now and it seems easier to reach my followers through Tumblr, so that is the idea. I am keeping the blogger site up for archive purposes, so feel free to keep looking at all your old faves, bitches!!! I will still maintain my TWITTER as well to reach followers, so keep an eye out for me.  Blogger has been a lot of fun and a great learning tool, so no T no shade to Blogger, y'all, but daddy don't have time for all this posting and re-posting. So head on over to my TUMBLR and TWITTER to keep up with me or you will be punished. And not in a good way.

IT'S TIME AGAIN FOR THE CRAZY SEXY CLEANSE!

Almost three years ago I embarked on a journey that taught me a lot about myself, my body and my mind. Kris Carr's Crazy Sexy Diet book blew my mind with its positivity, humor and guts. I have decided that, because last year sucked donkey balls and I've had a hard time getting steady since, that I will once again do the 21-Day Crazy Sexy Cleanse to challenge myself to re-focus. So, starting tomorrow I will eat a raw vegan diet and will give up sugar, wheat, dairy, meat, caffeine and ALCOHOL!! Yes, my beloved martinis will be absent from my life for a minimum of 21 days. They are going to miss me so much!!! The last time I had this adventure (which you can go back and follow by clicking on the 'Crazy Sexy Diet' tag at the bottom of this post or typing 'cleanse' in the search bar ) I came out the other side feeling energetic, light, happy 15 pounds lighter in three weeks without ever being hungry!! It's true! You can read all about it. I do not have an expectation that everything will go exactly the same, but I am excited to get into it again. So starting tomorrow morning, look out world, Wendell is juicing it up!! That sounds gross, but it makes sense for this cleanse. Follow along each day for my Cleanse Daily Diary and I'll bring you along with me. Let's get raw!! That sound bad too, but it makes sense for the cleanse. Another week is gone. Hope it was a good one for everyone. I had my yearly checkup today and it sucked balls. I hate going to the doctor, but I love talking to you rockstars. SOOOOOOOOO…….here are the top stories of the week:

PLEASE HELP MY FRIEND, MICHAEL TODD COHEN, CAUGHT IN THE MANHATTAN HIGH RISE FIRE

FundAnything: FOR MICHAEL TODD COHEN. Hey, dear readers. I have been away for a while. I am back, but with sad news. I'm sure many of you have read about the awful Manhattan high rise fire that occurred January 5th. Well the two victims were two of my best friends in the entire world. Sweet Daniel passed away the evening of the 5th and our lives will forever be changed. He was a smart, funny, caring, generous man and his spirit, and perhaps most importantly, his smile will be with me, in my heart for the rest of my life. Michael is still in the hospital, fighting through his inhalation injuries and a touch of the flu. He is intubated and has been sedated since he arrived at the hospital. He does not know yet of the great loss of his husband, Daniel. I know Michael and he will pull through this physical injury because he is a strong man. He has an amazing network of friends and family to help him through this. He's a rockstar. An amazing woman and friend of Michael's, Jenni Powell, has set up a fund for Michael so that he has some help on his road to recovery. If you could, please, donate anything you can and pass this along to your friends and family. These two men would give the shirt off their backs for anyone in need and I know Michael hates asking for help, so I am asking for him. FLASHBACK: MY MUSIC IN 1985: OCTOBER 20, 1985

I stopped doing these posts when I took a break from my blog back in February, but fortunately my 1985 self kept right on going with his (my) own personal Top 30 list of songs that made my tiny(er) ass shake. Here we are on October 20, 1985, which was also a Sunday. Prince and his proteges (Morris Day, Sheila E, The Family) are cramming into the top 30 like there's no tomorrow.....and for some of them there kind of wasn't. Tears for Fears and Thompson Twins made a giant leap into the top 5. How 80s is that? Not one but TWO instrumentals, though very different in tone, were wedged in there: the smooth jazzy Theme from St. Elmo's Fire and the hard hitting synths of Miami Vice Theme. And yes, that IS Eddie Murphy at #24. Go figure. Lots of familiar 80s names make the list, Aretha Franklin appears twice, as do Eurythmics, and THE VOICE tops it off. FLASHBACK: MY MUSIC IN 1985 - JANUARY 27TH

This week sees some significant movement by a few songs on the chart and some notable debuts. Prince & The Revolution bookend the chart with two of my fave songs they have ever done that contain the letter "U". Duran Duran has one song on the way out and another classic song debuting. Band Aid and Chicago take some pretty big plummets while Foreigner starts off high in the top 30.  Will Stevie Wonder or New Edition make it into the top 10 finally this week? I mean, it's only been three weeks into the year, so maybe I shouldn't be so dramatic yet. Oh well. Take a gander at who was rockin' the charts this week in my world of 1985. FLASHBACK SPECIAL: MY MUSIC IN 1985 - JANUARY 20TH

Heading into the third week of 1985 a few things come to my attention. Isn't it interesting how your feelings about certain songs change over the years? For example, I had NO idea what the song Relax was about in 1985. That shiz is D-I-R-T-Y!! Ha. I linked to the original, ÜBER GAY, banned version of the video below. I apparently loved the song You're the Inspiration in 1985. I can't stand to listen to it now. Interesting indeed.... Also so many songs stood the test of time like Boys of Summer and I Would Die 4 U while others, like Careless Whisper and Jamie, did not. At least not for me. Prince & The Revolution kept the top spot this week while his protégés, The Time, sneak into the top 10 for the first time with Jungle Love. Another Prince discovery, Sheila E., is also still on the charts at #16. This was THE Prince era, after all. Also, I'm sure I had a crush on Glenn Frey in 1985. Just sayin'. FLASHBACK SPECIAL: MY MUSIC IN 1985 - JANUARY 13TH

Wow. Memory lane is a weird street to walk down sometimes. To actually see these songs that I apparently knew so well in 1985 and can't even remember now is super strange. For instance, I can't sing one word of Call to the Heart or Jamie now, but I guess I was dancing around in my parachute pants to them in the mid-80s. Who knew? This week sees the debut of the first solo single by Van Halen's former/future/former/future lead singer David Lee Roth. Huge crush on him then! AND Tina Turner's first appearance of 1985 on my little chart. I also reluctantly, after 7 weeks at #1, gave someone else Madonna's spot, but even now I have to admit it was time for this week's song at the pinnacle to have it's "purple reign". See what I did there? Another thing that strikes me is that now music seems to be ruled by exclusively women, but on these old lists I used to keep men, women and groups seemed to be more even in my estimation. AMAZY MUSIC AWARDS: TOP 20 SINGLES; 5 THROUGH 1

HERE WE ARE!!! The top 5 singles of 2012 are finally here. In case you missed them, here are Parts I, II or III. Here we have a newbie, the third single by a pouty princess, more BOYS!!!(and GAY ones, at that) and two ladies who are absolute legends and Queens of pop, one making her third appearance on the top 20 this year.
