HAPPY MONDAY SONG: JANET JACKSON - DOESN'T REALLY MATTER

Another week, another Janet Jackson song to make you happy as a clam on a Monday. Doesn't Really Matter was released as a single to promote Janet's star turn in The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. While that film surprisingly failed to sweep the Oscars that year, Doesn't Really Matter was a big ol' fat hit!! Fat. Get it? The Klumps. Never mind. Released May 21, 2000, the song was a return to the bright, cheery pop sound that Janet had foregone on her previous album, the remarkable and dark The Velvet Rope, and fans were ready. Doesn't Really Matter jumped to #1 on the Hot 100 and maintained the spot for three weeks. The video is also as cute as can be, full of Japanese imagery, and features some sick choreography. Smile and watch today's Happy Monday Song. It'll give you a happy boner.

HAPPY MONDAY SONG: STIR IT UP - PATTI LABELLE

A hot song for a cold day. GIRL!!! Ms. Patti was turning it OUT in the 80s. Stir It Up was her second single released form the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack (the first being New Attitude). It is upbeat, joyous and Patti, as usual, blows the roof of that mo'fo'. I mean, when she lets loose at the end of this song, it is pure brilliance. Try not to dance to this song. If you succeed, you are soulless. Just saying. Enjoy and get happy on this Monday!!!

FLASHBACK: MY MUSIC IN 1985: OCTOBER 20, 1985

I stopped doing these posts when I took a break from my blog back in February, but fortunately my 1985 self kept right on going with his (my) own personal Top 30 list of songs that made my tiny(er) ass shake. Here we are on October 20, 1985, which was also a Sunday. Prince and his proteges (Morris Day, Sheila E, The Family) are cramming into the top 30 like there's no tomorrow.....and for some of them there kind of wasn't. Tears for Fears and Thompson Twins made a giant leap into the top 5. How 80s is that? Not one but TWO instrumentals, though very different in tone, were wedged in there: the smooth jazzy Theme from St. Elmo's Fire and the hard hitting synths of Miami Vice Theme. And yes, that IS Eddie Murphy at #24. Go figure. Lots of familiar 80s names make the list, Aretha Franklin appears twice, as do Eurythmics, and THE VOICE tops it off. Okay, grab a Tab cola, put on your leg warmers and dive into some of the links I put on the songs below. How cute was Corey Hart, y'all!!?? Enjoy, nerds!!

WILL FERREL TOPS THE LIST OF OVERPAID ACTORS

Forbe's Magazine has put out thier list of Hollywood's Most Overpaid Stars and Will Ferrell is the "winner". The Old School actor has had a string of box office duds compared to his salary has calculated to just $3.29 of profit for every dollar he is paid. Looks like he might want to consider lowering his price for the next screwball comedy. Second on the list is Ewan McGregor(does being hot count for nothing???), followed by Billy Bob Thornton(no wonder he just wants to be a musician now), Eddie Murphy(in his defense, he has to work when he can cuz he has a new baby every three days) and Ice Cube(DUH!!!). Getting some good news, Shia Le Beouf has been crowned the Best Actor for the Buck, showing profits of $160 for every dollar he is paid. Guess people aren't "Shia-ing" away from his movies. Shut up! {source]
