HAPPY MONDAY SONG: JANET JACKSON - DOESN'T REALLY MATTER

Another week, another Janet Jackson song to make you happy as a clam on a Monday. Doesn't Really Matter was released as a single to promote Janet's star turn in The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. While that film surprisingly failed to sweep the Oscars that year, Doesn't Really Matter was a big ol' fat hit!! Fat. Get it? The Klumps. Never mind. Released May 21, 2000, the song was a return to the bright, cheery pop sound that Janet had foregone on her previous album, the remarkable and dark The Velvet Rope, and fans were ready. Doesn't Really Matter jumped to #1 on the Hot 100 and maintained the spot for three weeks. The video is also as cute as can be, full of Japanese imagery, and features some sick choreography. Smile and watch today's Happy Monday Song. It'll give you a happy boner.

LADY GAGA STUNS AT THE OSCARS WITH 'SOUND OF MUSIC' MEDLEY

I always knew she had it in her. Lady Gaga glided onto the Oscar stage last night and gave a career defining performance of a medley to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music. Dropping all costumes and gimmicks and relying solely on her beautiful voice, Gaga not only hit the notes but gave a wonderfully emotional performance of the classic show tunes. Dame Julie Andrews herself came out on stage after and approved of Gaga's performance. Doesn't get much better than that, now does it? Lady Gaga is currently working on the follow up to 2013's ARTPOP with former collaborator RedOne and disco legend Giorgio Moroder. Can't wait!!! Check out the lovely performance below.

LANA DEL REY GETS SCREWED OUT OF AN OSCAR NOM AGAIN. BOO.

Good thing Lana Del Rey has all that money to keep her warm, otherwise she'd be shivering in a pool of her own tears this morning. The songstress was thought to be a shoe-in for a Best Original Song nomination at the Oscars this year, but alas, just like last year, she has been snubbed. Boo, Oscars!! Last year she should have been nominated for Young and Beautiful from The Great Gatsby, but NOOOoooOOOooo!!! Now this year her stirring contribution of the title song to Time Burton's Big Eyes has been passed over. COME ONE, ACADEMY!!! Let her feel her oats!! I'm sure the Oscar will end up in the hands of Golden Globe winners Common and John Legend for their weird song from Selma, but Lana was ROBBED, I SAY!! I hope that her Golden Globes dress didn't ruin her chances. You can check out all the Oscar nominations HERE if you are interested, but since Lana's not on it, what's the fucking point? Am I right, ladies? Listen to the luscious Big Eyes below.

IDINA MENZEL NAILS "LET IT GO" ON THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JIMMY FALLON

THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT, BITCH! Brushing off the Travolta-gate mispronunciation of her name -- Adele Dazeem has it's own twitter now, by the way, and you can Travoltafy your name -- Idina Menzel, who also has a twitter,  joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on The Tonight Show and sang the shit out of Oscar winning song from Frozen Let It Go, more than making up for her somewhat shaky performance at the Oscars. She looks relaxed and like she's having a blast. Anyway, watch the adorable performance, and you betta' hit that high note, Adele Idina. Damn! Now I'm doing it. By the way, my Travoltafied name is Wesley Orteez.

HAPPY MONDAY SONG: PHARRELL WILLIAMS SINGS "HAPPY" AT THE OSCARS

AWWWWW!!! Just when I thought Pharrell Williams couldn't get any cuter, he did. Last night He-Who-Wear-The-Big-Hat took the stage at the 86th Annual Academy Awards and made all of our lives a little happier. Singing his Oscar nominated song Happy from Despicable Me 2, Pharrell was joined by joyous dancers and hit the audience to shake it with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams! Though Happy didn't take home the statue (it went to Let It Go from Frozen), it IS sitting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, so take that Idina Menzel (or Adele Dazim, as John Travolta pronounces it). So watch below, enjoy and try NOT to be happy listening to Happy! Happy Monday, y'all!! Pharrell's album G I R L is available now in iTunes. Review coming soon.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: FLASHDANCE SOUNDTRACK

What a feelin'!!!!! 1983 was a stellar year for music all around, but if you ask me -- and you didn't -- I would have to say the year was stolen by the soundtrack to a little film I like to call Flashdance. Well, the reason I like to call it that is because it was the name of the film, so..... ANYHOOZERS! Flashdance, and  its star Jennifer Beals, were a phenomenon. It changed the way movies were made, the way soundtracks were marketed to sell a film and was the first film to use MTV as a major marketing tool. Giorgio Moroder (and supervisor Phil Ramone) compiled a veritable who's who of the music industry and put together an unforgettable soundtrack with two #1 singles on its tracklisting. Flashdance....What a Feeling by Irene Cara is arguably the best dance song of the 80s or any other era. It shot to #1 on the Hot 100 on May 28, 1983 and stayed there for six weeks, garnering both a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Song. Maniac by Michael Sembello was released as the second single and hit #1 on September 10, 1983 and spent two weeks at the top spot. Maniac was also nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards that year. Though no other singles were released from the album for various reasons, several songs enjoyed airplay on MTV with promotional videos, like Donna Summer's Romeo, and the soundtrack itself was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year and won one for Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special. It went on to sell over 6 million copies in the US. Other top artists of the time who appeared on the album were Kim Carnes, Laura Branigan and Joe Esposito. I would say the highlight of the album for me -- and what else matters -- are Shandi's He's a Dream and Karen Kamon's Manhunt (which is the third video below and it will blow your mind). Those songs ROCK!!! And DO NOT get me started on Cynthia Rhodes who is the goddess of 80s dance movies (see Staying Alive and Dirty Dancing). Seriously, Flashdance is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of the MAIN reasons I became a dancer. The movie and the soundtrack are sexy, flashy and made for the MTV generation. Watch and listen below to some of the cutting edge sounds from 1983's #1 soundtrack, Flashdance.

PERHAPS THE MOST ROMANTIC SHORT FILM EVER, PAPERMAN

Disney has really outdone itself with the Oscar nominated short Paperman. Just six minutes long (so watch it) it is a love story with an adorable twist. It's Disney, so the animation is amazing, but it is truly so sweet and so adorable that it will melt your heart. Watch and fall in love...

MADONNA FRIDAY: MADONNA'S TWO GOLDEN GLOBE/OSCAR SONGS

In honor of the Golden Globes this weekend and the Oscar nominations being announced yesterday, here are a couple of movie classics associated with our beloved Queen of Pop. Madonna has performed (but not always written) several songs that have been nominated for and/or won Best Original Song at the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Among them was Sooner of Later from the motion picture Dick Tracy. Written by Stephen Sondheim, the song won the Oscar in 1991 but lost the Golden Globe to Blaze of Glory by Jon Bon Jovi. Madonna performed the song at the Oscars that year in full Marilyn mode and brought down the mutha f***in' house, y'all!! The next song struck gold twice. Andrew Lloyd Webber penned a new song for the film version of Evita, You Must Love Me, and it won Best Original Song at the Golden Globes and the Oscars in 1997. Madonna performed the song at the Oscars that year as well. Here are both of the performaces by Madonna. Madonna was also nominated (but didn't perform) in 1988 for Who's That Girl (Golden Globe), 1993 for This Used To Be My Playground (Golden Globe), 1995 for I'll Remember (Golden Globe), in 2000 for Beautiful Stranger (Golden Globe), 2003 for Die Another Day (Golden Globe) and WON in 2012 for Masterpiece (Golden Globe). Don't forget to watch the Golden Globes this weekend!!!

2013 OSCAR NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

Although my favorite film of the year by miles, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, was not nominated in any category (shocking, because I'm always right) there are some great movies and great performances nominated this year at the 85th Academy Awards. WHO WON AN OSCAR?

The Academy Awards happened last night and there were some minor surprises, but mostly it was a night of Hugo and The Artists, two of the most overrated films of the last....ever. Honestly, I get the charm in both films, but Best Picture for The Artist? No. At least Hugo only won for technical awards. That I can get on board with. The only small surprise of the night came when 17 time nominee Meryl Streep actually won an Oscar she was nominated for! I love Meryl and she was FANTASTIC in The Iron Lady, but I assumed Viola Davis was going to win for The Help. Meryl never gets to win. While I think Viola Davis is just as good an actress as Meryl Streep, I still felt there was no clear LEAD actress in The Help. The story may have been anchored by Viola's character, but I thought all the roles were supporting. That's just my opinion, y'all. I am glad Meryl finally won again. It's been 30 year, people. Give that woman some props! Oh, and I wanted George Clooney to win Best Actor. I also thought Billy Crystal was pretty damn good. It was like watching the old-school Oscars when it was okay to be a little hoakey and cheesy. Good times. Oh, well. Okay. Here is a list of the big winners last night and you can go HERE for the complete list.

Best Animated Feature - Rango
Best Supporting Actress - Octovia Spencer, The Help
Best Supporting Actor - Christopher Plummer, Beginners
Best Director - Michele Hazanavicius, The Artist
Best Actor - Jean Dujardin, The Arist
Best Actress - Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady
Best Picture - The Artist

JUST BECAUSE: TILDA SWINTON

I'm sorry, but of two things I am sure. 1) Tilda Swinton was ROBBED of an Oscar nomination this year. She was absolutely brilliant in We Need to Talk About Kevin. GENIUS!! And 2) she is the Alien Fashion Queen of the Universe! I love everything that Tilda wears to these stuffy-ass awards shows and I don't care what anyone else thinks. She is weird and dresses accordingly. I think she looks fantastic; pale, frail, slightly mussed. I wouldn't change a thing. Below I have compiled a few shots of Tilda that I think are stunning from different awards shows and appearances. The girls got style. Just click the arrows at the bottom of the slideshow to have a look. I know people disagree, but she's one person who I always look forward to seeing on the red carpet, which makes it DOUBLY sad she was ignored by the Academy this year. I'm sure the Oscar she already has will get her through the night. Actually, I'm positive she couldn't care less about awards. She's too cool for school. Look at the fashion alien below. LOVE!

GABOUREY SIDEBE OF PRECIOUS COMES ON TO GERARD BUTLER

I think she could do better, personally. The soops cute and bubbly Gabourey Sidebe was in heaven at the Oscars. She was so excited to see everyone and was as comfortable as someone who had done it her whole life. While being interviewed on the red carpet, Gabby caught a glimpse of Gerard Butler, whom she had previously admitted having a crush on, and told her interviewer Billy Bush, "He's kinda sexy. I'd hit that." Hilarious!!! THEN when he came over to talk to her, Bush asked her to repeat herself, SO SHE DID!! Gerard came back with, "I'm here, I'm available. Let's go!" to which Sidebe responded "Let's grab a bottle of champagne and see where the night goes." WONDERFUL!!! A girl's gotta take a chance when the gettin' is good. I really love this girl. She has already booked a pilot for Showtime. I hope she has a long, wonderful career. She was remarkable in Precious. Here's a video of the exchange on the red carpet. [source]

MO'NIQUE'S OSCAR SPEECH: SPOT ON

Mo'Nique did everything you are NOT supposed to do to win an Oscar. She didn't do a lot of press, she didn't campaign for it, she asked for money to attend premiers, she didn't really seem to care. YET she still won her Best Supporting Actress Oscar. How? By giving the actual BEST supporting, arguably beat PERIOD, performance of the year. So when she took the stage to give her speech she called it out. She said she was gals to get her award because it was "about the performance, not the politics". True true true. There was no denying her talent and performance, but she refused to kiss ass to get her Oscar and seemed fine if she didn't get it at all. Smart? Maybe not. Admirable? Yep. I am sure that Sandra Vullocked did plenty of lobbying for her Oscar. I don't think anyone believes that Sandra is better than Meryl Streep on Meryl's WORST day, but Bullock has paid her dues, so good for her. She is good at what she does... being Sandra Bullock. Let's see who works more.

AMANDA SEYFRIED AND JENNIFER LOPEZ: STUNNING AT THE OSCARS

These were probably my two favorite dresses of the night: [images]

THE 82ND ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS

The Oscars were given out last night and I would have to say there were not a lot of big surprises. Not everything went the way I wanted it to, but it wasn't shocking since I tend to vote with my heart, not my brain (I would have given my left one to see Meryl Streep win an Oscar this year). The red carpet was full of glamour with standouts like Meryl Streep, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lopez. The men brought it too!! Looking hot were Tom Ford (duh), Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Lautner and Zac Efron (yum). By the way, Sarah Jessica Parker looked great and I don't care what anyone says!!!! She can do NO WRONG!!! Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were absolutely freakin' hilarious as the hosts (with a little help from awards show stealer Neil Patrick Harris), but even these vets couldn't keep the show from running past midnight. So, the awards!!!!! Of course the big story here is the fact that, after 81 years of Oscars, the first woman to ever win a Best Director award is Kathryn Bigelow. Congrats to her!! They even pulled Barbra Streisand out of hiding with her new neck to present the Oscar to her. Here are some of the highlights:

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds)

Best Supporting Actress: Mo'Nique (Precious)

Best Song: The Weary Kind (Crazy Heart)

Original Screenplay: The Hurt Locker

Cinematography: Avatar

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart)

Best Actress: Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side)

Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker)

Best Picture: The Hurt Locker
