GABOUREY SIDEBE OF PRECIOUS COMES ON TO GERARD BUTLER

I think she could do better, personally. The soops cute and bubbly Gabourey Sidebe was in heaven at the Oscars. She was so excited to see everyone and was as comfortable as someone who had done it her whole life. While being interviewed on the red carpet, Gabby caught a glimpse of Gerard Butler, whom she had previously admitted having a crush on, and told her interviewer Billy Bush, "He's kinda sexy. I'd hit that." Hilarious!!! THEN when he came over to talk to her, Bush asked her to repeat herself, SO SHE DID!! Gerard came back with, "I'm here, I'm available. Let's go!" to which Sidebe responded "Let's grab a bottle of champagne and see where the night goes." WONDERFUL!!! A girl's gotta take a chance when the gettin' is good. I really love this girl. INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS HANDED OUT

The Independent Spirit Awards were given out March 5th for the best in independent cinema. Precious was the big winner with five very well deserved awards. These winners are not always the same as the Oscar winners because big budget movies are not considered at the ISAs, but there a couple of actors that are expected to overlap. GLAAD GIVES KUDOS TO FILM AND TELEVISION

The Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) handed out their nominations for film and television for their 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards. GLAAD honors shows and films that stand out in depicting the gay community in a positive way. Among the nominees are for Wide Release Drama are Precious, Everybody's Fine, I Love You, Man, A Single Man and Taking Woodstock. Drama series nominees are True Blood, Mad Men, Brothers and Sisters, Grey's Anatomy and the BBC America series Skins. In the comedy category GLAAD singled out Glee, Beautiful People, Greek, Modern Family and United States of Tara. The awards will be held in NYC on March 13, 2010, in L.A. on April 17th and in San Francisco on June 5th.[source]

ANOTHER SIGN THE END IS NEAR: MARIAH CAREY WINS ANOTHER ACTING AWARD

I only kid you. I have expressed, begrudgingly, my appreciation for Fatriah's performance in Precious (the best movie I have seen all year), and now she is getting her second award for her performance. She is receiving the best supporting actress award at the Capri-Hollywood Film Festival. Precious made it's Italian premier at the festival and I guess they responded to Mariah's performance, so as fast as you can say auto-tune, BAM! Mariah snatched up best supporting actress. Now to be fair, Monique is has a MUCH bigger role and is better in the film, but I will not deny Mariah any awards this year. She ain't gettin' no Grammy, that for shizz. Sorry, can't help it. I refuse to be COMPLETELY positive about Mariah. There, I said it. [source]

REVIEW: PRECIOUS

I went to see the movie Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire and all I can say is WOW!!! This freakin' movie will blow you away. It's about (get this) an HIV positive 16 year old girl ( wonderful Gabourey Sibide) living in Harlem in 1987 who has two kids by her father and lives with her physically and mentally abusive mother (an Oscar-worthy Mo'Nique...who knew?). Despite what you just read, this movie is actually about hope and strength and the courage to left yourself out of the situation you are in. Precious is kicked out of school and has to attend an alternative school where she encounters a teacher named Blu Rain (an amazing Paula Patton) who changes her life, teaches her to read and write, and shows her the kindness that no one else ever has. Also one of the biggest surprises EVER...Mariah Carey plays a social worker, Mrs. Weiss, and is so good I wouldn't be surprised if her name comes up around awards season. This movie is soooooo inspiring and so well done. I really believe it is going to win a Best Picture Oscar this year. If you really want to see fine film making, a gripping story and some performances that will change the way you think about acting, go see Precious. If you don't, you will never forgive yourself and die a lonely old cat lady.
