CORINNE BAILEY RAE COVERS PRINCE: I WANNA BE YOUR LOVER
AMAZING!!! I worship Prince. I adore Corinne Bailey Rae. Now...two great tastes that taste great together. Corinne has just released The Love EP on iTunes, a collection of five covers of sexy, ready-for-Valentine's-day songs. The songs are quite an eclectic bunch, from Belly to Doris Day. My fave is her cover of Prince's very first big hit from 1979, I Wanna Be Your Lover. It's magnificent! She really does a great job and her voice sounds perfect for it. Prince is somewhere crying like a dove over how proud CBR has done him. Ha. Anyhoo, take a listen and head on over to iTunes to check out the EP and all other gorgeous music by Corinne Bailey Rae. Love her!!!! Here is the track listing of The Love EP and listen to I Wanna Be Your Lover below.
1."I Wanna Be Your Lover" (Prince Cover)
2."Low Red Moon" (Belly Cover)
3."Is This Love" (Bob Marley Cover)
4."My Love" (Paul McCartney & Wings Cover)
5."Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" (Doris Day Cover)

CHER BECOMES FIRST ARTIST TO HAVE A #1 SONG FOR SIX DECADES
...and will probably hold the record for a while. The legendary Cher has made music history by hitting #1 on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart with her song You Haven't Seen the Last of Me from the film Burlesque, making her the first and only artist to place a #1 song on a Billboard chart for SIX DECADES!!! Her #1s include: (song, year, chart)
I Got You Babe (w/ Sonny Bono) - August 1965 (Hot 100)
Gypsys, Tramps and Thieves - November 1971 (Hot 100)
Half-Breed - October 1973 (Hot 100)
Dark Lady - March 1974 (Hot 100)
After All (w/ Peter Cetera) - 1989 (U.S. AC)
If I Could Turn Back Time - 1989 (U.S. AC)
Believe - December 1998 (Hot 100, U.S. Sales, U.S. Club)
Strong Enough - 1999 (U.S. Club)
All or Nothing - 1999 (U.S. Club)
Dov'e L'Amore - 1999 (U.S. Club)
Song For the Lonely - 2002 (U.S. Club)
A Different Kind of Love Song - 2002 (U.S. Club)
When the Money's Gone - 2002 (U.S. Club)
You Haven't Seen the Last of Me - 2011 (U.S. Club)
Pretty damn impressive, Cher. The "Dark Lady" also holds the Hot 100 record for the longest hit-making career span, with 33 years between the release of her first and most recent #1singles on the Billboard Hot 100, in 1965 and 1999. Holy shizz! I guess she's right, we haven't seen the last of her. Keep 'em coming, girl. We love ya. Check out a few #1s below.

BRITNEY SPEARS DEBUTS AT #1 ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100...AGAIN
Britney is once again on fire!! Her latest single, Hold It Against Me, has become only the 18th song in the 52-year history of the Billboard charts, and the second artist to debut at the top more than once!! (Fatriah Scary has done it thrice) Britney last rocketed straight to #1 with her single 3 back in October of 2009. The song boasts 411,000 digital downloads in it's first week. Damn, girl. I do have to say that the concept of the word play in the song is not original. There was a song from the late 70s called If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me by the Bellamy Brothers. Max Martin, the writer, is certainly old enough to remember that song. Hmmmm.... royalties anyone? Ha. They are not even close to sounding the same, but it's worth mentioning. Listen to both below.

FLASHBACK: DEBBIE GIBSON
Before Britney Spears, there was Debbie Gibson. Debbie was THE teen pop star of the 80s. Not only did Debbie sing, she wrote and produced on her albums as well. She quickly became the youngest artist to write, produce, and perform a #1 single on the Billboard hot 100 (with her song Foolish Beat) and she remains the youngest female to write, record, and perform a #1 single to date. Pretty impressive I would say. Debbie, who prefers Deborah now, racked up five top five hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including two #1s and continues to record music. She has been in several television movies and Broadway shows. I had the privilege of performing with her a few years back in a production of Gypsy and I will say she was absolutely lovely and talented and a pleasure to work with. Enjoy some Debbie today, out of the blue. By the way, the last one is the little mini-movie video for Electric Youth. Watch!!!

JUST BECAUSE: JENNIFER ANISTON IN ALLURE
These photos are STUNNING!! I love me some Jennifer Aniston and these pics are just lovely. I like that they are fun and a little dirty. Ha Jennifer covers Allure this month and does an interview inside where she talks about, among other things, how much she detested that 90s haircut phenomenon she started: THE RACHEL!! You know, that layered cut that everyone and their pubes had in the mid-90s. She tells Allure:
"How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen, What I really want to know is: how did that thing have legs?"
"How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen, What I really want to know is: how did that thing have legs?"
Hey! I liked The Rachel!! Was it just me? Obviously not, because about a heptabajillion women got their hair did just like it. Ha. Jennifer is making the rounds promoting her new flick with Adam Sandler called Just Go With It, and I have to say I kinda wanna see it...... despite Adam Sandler. Anyway, enjoy the photos of Ms. Aniston and go out and get Allure. Hurry.

WHEN IS LADY GAGA RELEASUING HER ALBUM? OH, AND SURPRISE PERFORMANCE VIDEO
A certain blog yesterday (you can figure it out) reported that Lady Gaga's album, Born This Way, had been moved up to February 11th, but last we heard, from Gaga herself on twitter... well, in her own words:
"THE SONG 2 13 11 THE RECORD 5 23 11"
And she posted the pic on this post with it. Now doesn't she know better than anyone? The blogger reporting the news said the ALBUM was scheduled for February 13th, but was moved up to the 11th. I assume he got his info wrong because it's the single that Gaga says was scheduled for the 13th. Guess they're not as close as blogger assumes. Hmmmm..... Anyway, even if it's just the single, that still amazy news, no? I can't wait for new Gaga material. She da' bomb!!! Meanwhile, Gaga did a surprise number at the Oak Room the other night, performing Someone to Watch Over Me for a lucky crowd. Video below. [image]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VANITY!!!
Vanity is 52 today!! Way back in the day when Prince was just becoming the mega-star he was to become he was fooling around with all kinds of music. Some of the music didn't exactly fit him so he would form these side projects to record them. One such AWESOME project was a raunchy girl group he formed around his girlfriend at the time, Denise Matthews, who he renamed Vanity. The group was, of course, Vanity 6. It consisted of Vanity, Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsie. "6" represented the number of boobs in the group. Ha! Anyway, Vanity was a super-sexy, exotic beauty from Canada who came to Hollywood to be a star. She modeled and got a gig at the 1982 American Music Awards, which is where she met Prince. The rest is history. Vanity eventually left Prince, quitting the film Purple Rain because she didn't get enough money (and being replaced by the equally fantasgreat Apollonia), and went solo. Many films, Playboy pictorials and albums followed, but in 1994 she left showbiz and became a born again Christian after almost overdosing on crack. Who saw THAT coming? Anyway, Denise now shuns her naughty past, but we still can reap the benefits of it. Here is Vanity 6's big hit and 80s classic Nasty Girl. I adore this little ditty, and you should too! And I threw in He's So Dull just for fun too!! Happy birthday, Vanity!! I miss the nasty girl.

NEW ROXETTE: SHE'S GOT NOTHING ON (BUT THE RADIO)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!?? THIS IS AWESOME!! I have really missed Roxette. I love them and it's been ages since we've had new music. Here is the newest from the Swedish duo who ruled the charts in the late 80s, early 90s with Listen to Your Heart, Must Have Been Love, Fading Like a Flower, Almost Unreal and Joyride. She's Got Nothing On (But the Radio) totally has that Roxette sound and magic and it appears that we will get a full album of music entitled Charm School from the dynamic duo in FEBRUARY!!!!! This is especially remarkable given Marie Fredriksson has just recovered from a brain tumor!! Per Gessle takes the lead on She's, not the divine Marie, but he often took the lead on first singles from albums (like The Look and Joyride) so we'll hear Marie Fredriksson's pipes on plenty of songs I'm sure. I can't wait to hear what they come up with next!!Anyway, listen to the song and love it or else, and then I had to put a couple of faves on here (one very famous, one not as much but probably my fave Roxette of all time). Just watch.
