I Can't Make You Love Me is perfection. The sadness and longing in the song is palpable. Here is the original sung by the incomparable Bonnie Raitt and some amazing covers by Adele and George Michael. Take that.

WATCH THESE DANCERS WORK IT OUT TO MADONNA'S GIRL GONE WILD
HOT!! These kids are not kidding around. Watch as the choreography of Dejan Tubic and Janelle Ginestra comes to life in a dance class full of fierceness. Not too much else to be said. Just watch, hoes. You may not want to try this at home unless you've stretched. Ha. Go.

MADONNA FRIDAY: TO THE CRITICS, HERE'S WHY YOU'RE WRONG
I am a little dismayed this week by the number of critics who have commented that MDNA is not "mature" enough for a 53 yr. old woman. I guess those critics would have been fine if Madonna had come out with a song about menopause or AARP? No. If Madonna had made a more "mature" album (whatever that means) I'm sure those same critics would have said "what happened to the woman that used to be ahead of every trend?" or some such crap. Did you want a video of her putting on Bengay and support hose while taking Boniva and crocheting? Please. Listen, Madonna has, does and will always make pop records that you can dance to. She is not Joni Mitchell or Paul Simon. She's Madonna. Some say she is doing the same thing she's done before. Even if that were true (It's not) did anyone make any comments about Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi making the same music for 30 years? No. Because they're men. (By the way, that's not a dis. I LOVE Bruce and Bon Jovi) Madonna has changed and lead the others from the time she hit the music scene in 1982. Get off her jock, people! If it wasn't for Madonna none of you would have any women to listen to on your iPods now. Britney, Christina, Kylie, Mariah, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna: kiss it goodbye! They wouldn't exist if it weren't for Madonna clearing the way for women to take charge of their own career and images. As for the new album, MDNA is state of the art electronic dance pop. It is catchy as all hell and fits square with her back catalogue. Songs like I'm Addicted and Turn Up the Radio are as fun as Into the Groove or Music, and Masterpiece and Falling Free are her most lovely tunes since This Used to Be Our Playground and You'll See. My gawd, what other woman is selling 350,000 on their first week after 30 years in the pop music business? What other lady is making $408 million on world-wide stadium tours? SAYS NONE! As a matter of fact, Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour is the 4th highest grossing tour by ANY artist or band of all time, behind U2, AC/DC and The Rolling Stones. If it's a man's world, Madonna's got the biggest balls around. MDNA, much like the previous Madonna album I most closely relate it too, Erotica, will be appreciated more over time, I think. It's great. Madonna's great. If you don't think so, you might need to get an MRI. There. I said it. Oh, and p.s......SHE LOOKS FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!

MADONNA'S MDNA TO EASILY TAKE #1 ON BILLBOARD 200
Billboard is reporting that Madonna's latest smash, MDNA, will easily take the top spot on the Billboard 200 Album chart this week:
"Madonna's 12th studio album, "MDNA," is on course to easily debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry sources suggest the set could sell between 300,000 to 350,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, April 1.
If "MDNA" lands atop the list, it will mark the queen of pop's eighth No. 1 album and her fifth consecutive studio set to debut in the penthouse. Her last studio album, 2008's "Hard Candy," started at No. 1 with 280,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan."
Madonna's first #1 album was back in February 1985 when the classic Like A Virgin topped the chart. Quite a run so far, Madonna. Her last #1 album, 2008's Hard Candy opened with 208,000 copies and was the 11th biggest selling album world-wide that year. Looks like MDNA sparked even more interest for consumers. No surprise. She IS the Queen after all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LADY GAGA!
Lady Gaga turns 26 today!! Seems like only yesterday I saw Gaga at Terminal 5 in NYC, a small venue that I paid $20 for. Now she is one of the biggest stars in the world. 23 million albums later and she is showing no signs of giving up her Gaga-ness. This summer will see the the Born This Way Ball World Tour and supposedly another album is in the works. Happy birthday, Lady Gaga, and for gay's sake, take a little rest every now and then!! ha. Except keep working on that album, please. Enjoy the first singles from each of her massive releases (that sounds gross) below. Oh la la.

MADONNA'S SEXY COMMERCIAL FOR HER FRAGRANCE: TRUTH OR DARE
WOOT!! Madonna is one hot mamma (literally) so it makes perfect sense she would put on her leather and get her freak on for the commercial for her very first fragrance, Truth or Dare. Seriously, she is looking like a million bucks in this commercial. Not that a million bucks is a lot of money to Madonna, but it is to us, her loyal subjects. Of course, you should also buy MDNA if you have not already. If you have, I LOVE YOU TOO! Watch and drool.
RuPAUL'S DRAG RACE DISQUALIFIED CONTESTANT WILLAM GIVES HILARIOUS INTERVIEW TO LOGO
SHOOOOP! Willam, working actor and beauty extraordinaire, was unceremoniously kicked off RuPaul's Drag Race a couple weeks ago and mum is the word on why so far. We are going to know in a few weeks when the reunion show is on (end of April), but until then, Willam was stopped by LOGO TV and gives some absolutely hilarious answers to some tweets. (Your mom's a smart bitch) I mean, this girl is FUNNY!!!! Watch. I am personally super sad that Willam was kicked off because she was the funniest bitch on the show. Certainly better than that evil Phi Phi who is still there. (Yuck) I really can't with her. OH and go to LOGO's website and vote for Willam for Most Addictive Reality Star. Wouldn't it burn Phi Phi's ass if she won??? Ha. Anyhoo, watch Willam give and take some shade for your pleasure.

BILLBOARD RANKS MADONNA'S 40 BIGGEST HITS ON THEIR CHARTS

"The ranking is based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart. Songs are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 100 earning the least. To ensure equitable representation of the biggest hits from each era, certain time frames were weighted to account for the difference between turnover rates from those years."
It's pretty interesting to see how they all stack up against one another. I was surprised by some placings. So, here we go:
40. Rain
39. Oh Father
38. Don't Cry for Me, Argentina
37. Holiday
36. Hanky Panky

REVIEW: MADONNA - MDNA (DELUXE EDITION)
YAY!! I've heard it and the verdict is in. FABOOSH!!!! Really this album is way beyond expectation and the snippets do the songs no justice at all. It's an aural orgasm, one song after another it's own delicacy. There is A LOT of sounds here that you've never heard from Madonna, so get ready to experience her in a new way. It's hot, y'all. This is a review of the Deluxe edition, which features a second disc with five extra tracks, so hunker down and get ready to read my song-by-song account. Just do it, then get even MORE excited for MDNA's official release on Monday. Woohoo!!Preorder it now HERE. Here we go, the MDNA era has begun.......
Girl Gone Wild - Well this, the second single from MDNA, is without a doubt a dance floor killer. Madonna is all sex and sass on this gem. I've reviewed it before, so you're familiar with my thoughts on this little ditty. Next.
Gang Bang - "Bang, bang, shot you dead" sings Madonna on this angry song directed toward an ex-lover (presumably Guy Ritchie). Very dark, deep beats and violent lyrics. "I'm going straight to hell and I got a lot of friends there." Madge does NOT hold back her feelings on this track. It's a new sound for the Queen, and she handles it quite fiercely. "I said drive, bitch! And while you're at it, die bitch!"
I'm Addicted - OMG!!! This is one of the most addictive tracks Madonna has blessed us with in a while. All beeps and electronic wonder, I'm Addicted has great production and sexy lyrics. It's of-the-moment sounding and, again, outside of anything we've heard form the legend. Club banger for sure! This song is radio-ready in my opinion. It reminds me of something Kylie Minogue would love to get her hands on. A-MAH-ZING!!! You're gonna love it. The "M-D-N-A, M-D-N-A" chant at the end is perfection.
Turn Up the Radio - This rumored third single is absolute, pure joy. It's like an old school Madonna summer jam, everything you want for this time of the year. If you have a car, get ready to roll down the windows and sing at the top of your lungs. Again the production is superb, and this is possibly the most fun, flirty song Madonna's done since True Blue or Cherish. This is going to break up speakers all over the place in the coming months.
Give Me All Your Luvin' - duh. You know I love this song, peeps.
Some Girls - Starting with hard beats and robotic vocals about some girls having "fake tits" or "want to get their freak on", the song is heavily laced, vocally and instrumentally, with electronics. It sounds very clubby and I can see this being a club release. Sing-songy and cute, but not the best song on the album, but not a "skip it" track either. Sweet bridge.
Superstar - Okay, this one is a little filler. It's a love song that references everything from gangsters to Abe Lincoln. It's got a little girlish feeling to it, sort of like Jimmy Jimmy from True Blue. Simple and effective, but not quite up to par with the other tracks. Definitely the weak spot at this point in the album, but again, not a toss off completely. The dub step break down in the middle is kinda fun though.
I Don't Give A - Another aggressive track. I Don't Give A addresses Madonna obvious displeasure with some of the aspects she experienced during her last marriage. Yikes. Hope Guy can take some criticism. Ha. It's also a female empowerment song with lyrics about multitasking and being okay with leading your own life. "I can do ten things all at once, and if you have a problem, I don't give a..." Nicki Minaj jumps in with a pretty sick verse in the middle too declaring, "There's only one Queen, and that's Madonna." DUH! Overall, pretty funky shit.
I'm A Sinner - This is the first track that REALLY reminds me of Ray of Light in production, and it makes sense since William Orbit, the collaborator on RoL, takes up the duties on this song too. (among others) I'm a Sinner is an unapologetic ode being cool as hell. It's a mid-tempo rocker and has a Beautiful Stranger feel to it as well. Slightly 60s, slightly middle Eastern influenced. It's good times. There's also a call out to several saints that reads like the rap in Vogue. Ha.
Love Spent - Is that a banjo? I believe it is. This is the closest thing to a ballad so far on MDNA. Pretty, great vocals and strings, Madonna is wondering if the guy with her is there for the money. Hence the "spent" reference. "Spend your love on me. Now you have your money, spend it like it's nothing." It's hard and pretty all at once. Orbit gives us lots to listen to musically; the banjo, the strings, the electronic bubbling and the gorgeous breakdown add up to a pretty magical journey.
Masterpiece - Some of you are already familiar with this pretty ballad that won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song from Madonna's film W.E. It hearkens back to the days when Madonna would record ballads like Take a Bow, You'll See or This Used to Be My Playground. It's perhaps the most passionate Madonna has sounded in a ballad in some time.
Fallin Free - Written with Orbit and her brother-in-law, singer-songwriter Joe Henry, Fallin Free is simply sublime. I am so glad Madonna is recording ballads again. They've always been some of my faves. A beautifully distorted piano starts us off, and strings enhance song. Ray of Light comes to mind again with superb lyrics and production. It's a song about freedom and love and finding happiness. Her voice is really great on this song. Love it!! This is the last track on the standard edition of MDNA and it closes out the album perfectly.
DISC 2
Beautiful Killer - The first of the extra tracks on the US edition of MDNA, Beautiful Killer rocks along with a strumming guitar and lyrics about a lover who is a "beautiful killer with a beautiful face". Pretty good song, especially for an extra track, but it doesn't quite have the same feel of the tracks on the first disc. Great vocals and a pretty rad Papa Don't Preach-like string section right in the middle.
I Fucked Up - Quite the opposite of Gang Bang and I Don't Give A, I Fucked Up sees Madonna taking on a little responsibility for what may have ended her last marriage. These must have been written several weeks apart. Ha. It's really a lovely ballad with sweet lyrics and a rare moment of humble-pie on MDNA. I'm actually surprised this didn't make the main show, but here it is as an extra. Maybe it's the title? I like this track a lot. Great build-up to the ending too.
B-Day Song - This song is more of a rock-n-roll number than anything. Girlish and simple, Madonna gives us a little taste of M.I.A. on this track again. Perhaps her little middle finger stunt at the Super Bowl relegated this track to the Disc 2. Ha. This one doesn't quite fit into the swirling sounds on the main disc, but still a fun, Burning Up moment. Very The Ting Tings.
Best Friend - Frantic and unapologetic, Best Friend is a song about a relationship that is clearly over, and though you know you were right to end it, you still miss the person who was so special to you. Electronic sounds infuse this song with urgency and strength. Not gonna lie, this song is kinda deep. I think we've all been there, right?
Give Me All Your Luvin' (Part Rock Mix) - This is a pretty awesome remix, I must say. LMFAO takes this song and adds their Party Rockin' to it in a very effective way. Club ready and loud, it transforms the girly, bubblegum sound into something altogether different and dancey. This tracl has been available on iTunes for a while, so you can sample it there now if you'd like.

MADONNA POSTS 41st #1 ON THE BILLBOARD DANCE/CLUB PLAY CHART
GO, MADONNA!!! Madonna has notched her record 41st #1 song on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart with Give Me All Your Luvin' reaching the top spot this week. Of course, Madonna is never one to stop at ONE accomplishment, so this #1 achievement also gives Madonna a #1 Billboard song in the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s. Four decades of #1s y'all!!! Her first #1 on the Dance/Club play chart was in 1983 with the double-sided single of Holiday/Lucky Star and her last was 2009's Celebration. The person with the closest amount of #1 singles on that chart? Janet Jackson with 19. I'm guessing she'll have a few more.

MADONNA FRIDAY: ATTITUDE GIVES VERY FIRST MDNA REVIEW

"Madonna: MDNA (Interscope)
Review by Matthew Todd, Attitude Magazine April 2012
There¹s a fun moment at the end of the video to the first single Give Me All Your Luvin’, when Madonna flings a baby doll off camera and away from her breast. It isn’t a subtle marker of starting anew with her loyal audience of gays and good-time girls, but it is comically satisfying nonetheless. Party Madonna is back and she wants us to know it.
Teaming up with producers Martin Solveig, Benny Benassi, The Demolition Crew and old hand William Orbit, MDNA is a dose of what she does best. While that may seem like just dance music, there is more to Madonna’s oeuvre than that.
Girls Gone Wild, the biggest pop stomper on the album, kicks off with a reference to Act of Contrition from Like a Prayer. The production might sound like she¹s been listening to a fair bit of Rihanna, but who’s counting. Madonna brings her own authority, creating the kind of anthemic party song that she does best, the kind where everyone from your three-year-old niece to your 60-year-old mother gets up on the dancefloor. Much of MDNA is about having fun, but despite that, this is a dark album. If Like a Prayer was her divorce record and Hard Candy suffered, one senses, from being put together as her relationship with Guy Ritchie was falling apart, then MDNA is a fuck you to her marriage, the life that came with it, and partly to herself for losing her identity in a partnership. She’s out to recapture who she is, and she has demons to slay.
The strangely titled Gang Bang sees her singing in a weird theatrical drawl about taking revenge on a lover who ruined her life. ‘Shot you dead, shot my lover in the head…I’m going straight to hell…I’ve got a lot of friends there’, she deadpans before yelling, ‘Drive bitch, die bitch!’. It’s kind of stupid, kind of amazing, kind of funny and kind of fucked up but gives the album one vital ingredient to Madonna¹s success that all contenders, apart from Lady Gaga, have never clued up on: drama.
The Solveig-produced I Don¹t Give A..., is one of the album¹s tour-de-force moments. Beginning by recounting a typical day, it becomes intensely honest, and is, as is her way, a telling-off of her critics. Love her or loathe her, Madonna has made her name by raising a middle finger to, well, just about everyone. ‘Wake up, this is your life, children on your own, gotta plan on the phone, meet the press, buy a dress, do all this to impress…do ten things at once and if you don¹t like it I don¹t give a….’ It’s here that she makes specific reference to her ex-husband. ‘I tried to be the perfect wife…I diminished myself…it swallowed me…if I was a failure then I don’t give a…’. The track builds to a genius, choral, almost Tim Burton-esque conclusion.
This strongest, most immediate section of MDNA continues with Turn Up the Radio, which begins like a delicate ballad as she pleads with the listener to stop for a moment, to get away from the world through music. It may sound trite but there¹s urgency in its simplicity. It transforms into the album’s most pounding moment, reaching a climax that threatens to blow the speakers. Some might find it unusually generic, but she makes it her own and fans will be happy to have a dancefloor filler that will shake the clubs and would happily find a slot on the next series of Glee.
One of the later highlights is Superstar, surely the sweetest song Madonna has released since Cherish. It twirls along, an open-top summer anthem, serenading a new lover with a hypnotic chorus. It¹s simple and pretty and a perfect song to sing on her summer concerts and should definitely be a single.
MDNA ends, as recent Madonna albums do, with deep melancholia, from the Orbit-produced Falling Free, one of the saddest songs she’s ever written, through to the confessional I Fucked Up on the Deluxe Edition, accompanied by Beautiful Killer, a fun, 80s-sounding, strings-laced tribute to French actor Alain Delon.
Overall, this might not have the serious pop intensity of Confessions, it’s not as drastically new or experimental as music critics might like, but it’s fun, fucked up, dancey and full of drama. It’s what her fans have been waiting for: a wallop enough of an album to put her back up there, at checkmate against Lady Gaga, who, despite her brilliance, doesn’t quite give you songs that are as easy to disco dance to as some of these are. Is Madonna still ‘the Queen’ as Nicki Minaj gabs at one point? On the strength of MDNA, it’s hard to argue against.
[Note to Monsters: Lady Gaga is frikkin’ amazing, too. Don¹t kill us.]

WILLIAM ORBIT, MADONNA'S PRODUCER, SAYS HIS TRACKS ON MDNA ARE DIFFERENT

"What she has decided to do is extra acoustic versions. There’s some pretty hard, rocking tracks. There’s a very different variation of styles. Mostly pretty savage, actually. The singles that have come out aren’t necessarily representative."
Interesting. Not sure if he is talking about actual album tracks or versions of tracks she'll perform on tour as far a acoustic, but I can't wait to hear what the two of them have up their sleeves. At this point in Madonna's career she certainly has nothing to prove, so why not put out an album full of different types of music. Go, girl! I do think Orbit is kinda throwing these other producers under the bus a little though. We'll have to wait and see how it all sounds. (Hint: I'm going to love it)
