Liza has been kicking since the 60s for all of us mortals, so it's only fitting that we worship her on this day of days. Enjoy her magnifecence below singing We Are the Champions from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, looking faboosh, and also Kristen Wiig lampooning her with a skit from SNL this weekend entitled "Liza Minnelli Tries to Turn Off a Lamp". Madonna came thisclose to showing her vagina in this video!!! Open Your Heart was the fourth single released off of her smash True Blue album, and it did not disappoint. The song is a throbbing piece of pop rock and Madonna's vocals are top notch. The sexy video, in which Madge plays a dancer in a peep show joint and dances with and kisses a VERY young boy, and clearly inspired by Bob Fosse and even Liza Minnelli, helped push the song up the charts in the winter of 1986/87, finally hitting #1 on February 7, 1987. A pop classic by any standard, Madonna still plays Open Your Heart in concert from time to time and it's a fan fave. Enjoy the video for Open Your Heart, bitches!

A throwback to the old days of MGM musical stars, theatre legends and old-school pill-poppers, Liza is still kickin'. Countless movies, shows, albums, concerts and breakdowns have kept the Oscar winner in the spotlight since... well, since birth! Long live Liza!!

LIZA MINNELLI IS JOINING TH E CAST OF UGLY BETTY!

Okay, now this is what I call news. Ugly Betty, one of my fave struggling shows, is getting a legend to join the cast. LIZA!!!! Minnelli will play an "outrageous drama teacher" that is instructing Betty's (presumably) gay nephew Justin who just got into an acting class. FUN! Apparently the producers really pursued Liza over and over until she got the right offer to do the show. It'll be so fun to see Liza on TV again.
