I finally got to see Avenue Q (yes, for the first time. I'm a bad theatre queen!!) and it was SOOOOO GREAT!!! It has moved from it's Broadway run into it's Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Being up so close to the stage was great because it gave the show an intimate feeling that really made it special. The cast was amazing and the puppet work is phenom!! Seth Rettberg was soooo funny and charming as Princeton/Rod and Anika Larson showed great range playing Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut. Cullen Titmus was super funny as Nicky/Trekkie Monster as well. This show also features the funniest name I have ever heard! I won't ruin it, but there is a lady they refer to as Mrs. T in the program. Her last name is HYSTERIOUS!!!! The songs in the show are so clever and have great titles like "It Sucks to Be Me" "If You Were Gay" "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" "The More You Ruv Someone" (no, that's not a typo) and "Schadenfreude" which is a German word for taking pleasure in someone else's misfortune. Brills!!! I was able to meet most of the cast after the show and spoke with Seth Rettberg, Erica Dorfler(Gary Coleman/Kate/Lucy/Mrs. T u/s) , Ruthie Ann Miles (Ens/Christmas Eve/Kate/Lucy/Mrs. T u/s) and Rob Morrison (Nicky/Trekkie/Brian/Princeton/Rod u/s) who told me how much fun it is to work on Avenue Q. Even if you have seen it before, you should see it in this new setting. GO SEE AVENUE Q or you will live to regret it!!!
