HUMPDAY SEXY SONG: STILL OF THE NIGHT - WHITESNAKE

One of the biggest selling bands of the 80s, one of the biggest selling albums of all time and THE hottest video vixen of all time culminate in this masterpiece of metal from 1987, Still of the Night. Whitesnake had been making music since the 70s but not until the release of their self-titled 1987 album did they break through to the mainstream. Here I Go Again hit #1 on the Hot 100 and Is This Love snaked its way up to #2 (click both of those links for extra humping). Both of those songs were obvious pop-metal hits and both of those videos also featured lead singer David Coverdale's then-girlfriend and future ex-wife Tawny Kitaen. Still of the Night, however, was NOT a pop song. It was a rock and roll banger with a fucking sweet breakdown in the middle (about the 2:00 mark). It was slinky, sexy and aggressive and, IMO, the best metal song of the era. It did not do well on the Hot 100, peaking at #79, but it notched a #18 on US Mainstream Rock Tracks and #16 in the UK. The Whitesnake album went on to sell 8 million copies in the US alone. There are many hump-worthy songs on the album, but if you want to REALLY get busy, as Arsenio would say (it was 1987, work with me here) then pop in Still of the Night and hump away! FLASHBACK: WHITESNAKE - HERE I GO AGAIN

Back in the 80s (and still for me) hair metal ruled!! There was Poison, Guns N Roses, Winger, Def Leppard and this band, who had the hardest rocking album my little life could handle, Whitesnake. I loved their self-titled 1987 album so much that I listened to it all day, every day for a year. Here I Go Again was their biggest hit ever and it was a doozy. It hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 10, 1987 and produced one of the sexiest, most memorable videos of the decade. Of course, the band didn't really make the video what it was, it was the hot redhead doing the splits on the Jaguar XJ, "actress" Tawny Kitaen. Tawny, who had appeared in films like Bachelor Party and Witchboard, was dating lead singer David Coverdale at the time and appeared in all the videos released for the single's from this Whitesnake album. The images of her on the cars and hanging out the window while driving throug a tunnel... and everything else are etched in the memory of all 80s metal lovers. She was THE video girl of the day. Now she's a hot mess, but that's not important. Whitesnake had a couple of other huge hits from this record, Still of the Night and Is This Love, but Here I Go Again remains their signature song. I still get goosebumps when I hear it too and I wanna do a front walkover on a car. I'd tear every muscle in my body, but gawd I'd be hot. Anyhoo, watch the video and love it, or else...

BEHIND-THE-SCENES SPY SHOTS OF GAGA'S NEW VIDEO FOR MARRY THE NIGHT

SWEET!! Some sly fox got shots of Lady Gaga shooting her new music video for upcoming single Marry the Night from her mega-hit album Born This Way. Looks like it's gonna be pretty metal! Lots of leather, rain, flame throwers, etc. Even dancing on the hood of a car, a la Whitesnake. Bitch knows how to put on a show, okay! Marry will be the fifth official single from Born This Way and more than likey the fifth top 10 hit. Watch the video of the behind-the-scenes below and listen to the full length track just below that. It's pretty bad-ass, but I was really hoping Heavy Metal Lover would be the next single. FLASHBACK: IS THIS LOVE - WHITESNAKE

Quite possibly the most dramatic pop/metal band of the 80s, Whitesnake put out their self-title album in 1987 and it was a massive, massive success, going on to become one of the best selling albums of last couple of decades. The first two singles, Still of the Night and Here I Go Again, are classics and so was their third single (and my fave) Is This Love. A rock ballad (all the rage in the 80s) this song shot to #2 on the Hot 100 and stands as one of the best singles and videos of the decade. The video featured the "Whitesnake girl" and girlfriend at the time of lead singer David Coverdale, Tawny Kitaen. She stared in a series of videos for the band at the time and she is a hot hot hottie in this one. She is just a hot mess now (poor thing). Well, in this case, let's dwell on the past when men had perms, metal ruled the charts, and Tawny Kitaen didn't look like something you found in your shower drain. Here is Is This Love.
