THE #1 SONG 25 YEARS AGO WAS....

.........Step By Step by New Kids On The Block. The boy band craze was in full effect in 1990 and NKOTB was right at the front of the line. Step By Step was the first single form their album of the same name and it was a huge hit. It spent three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in Canada as well, hitting the top 10 in several countries around the world. The single went double platinum and was the groups biggest seller of all time. And yeah, that's Marky Mark, New Kid Donny Wahlberg's brother, making an appearance in the video holding a basketball. Enjoy the #1 song from 25 years ago today, Step By Step.

THE #1 SONG 25 YEARS AGO TODAY WAS......

.....Hangin' Tough by New Kids on the Block.  Can you believe how tough they were? Five kids from Boston who probably had about three pubes between them released a song talking smack about how rough they were in the voices of child sopranos and we all bought the shit out of it. It hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 9, 1989 and was there for a week. I guess we couldn't take any more hard-as-nails masculinity than one week. The boys were in the midst of their part in the 80s boy band craze, so it makes total sense that girls (and us gay boys) were swooning over this track. And boy could they do the running man like nobody's business. The video is NKOTB doing some very 80s dance moves in front of an audience of girls dressed like Elizabeth Shue from Adventures in Babysitting. As a bonus, Donnie Wahlberg is thrusting his barely post-pubescent wiener at said girls in overly-distressed stonewashed jeans. What do you want? It was 1989. Anyhoozers, here is the #1 song from 25 years ago today, Hangin' Tough by New Kids on the Block.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK ARE BACK WITH REMIX (I LIKE THE)

They may not be "new" or "kids" anymore, but with this track they are back on the block. THE boyband from the 80s, NKOTB, are switching things up a bit and  hitting it a little harder with their new single Remix (I Like The) and it's pretty great. The song the lead single off of their upcoming album 10 which drops April 2nd and the boys are going on tour with 98 Degress (what?) and Boys II Men (what?) starting May 31st. Enjoy and let me know whatcha' think.

NEW KIDS' JORDAN KNIGHT'S NEW SINGLE IS HOT!

Jordan Knight, the mostly-lead singer of New Kids on the Block is back with a pretty great solo track called Let's Go Higher. It's good, y'all! Very contemporary sounding. AND Jordan is lookin' hotter than a two-dollar pistol too. What do you think: can Jordan make a comeback on the charts? This is a good start. Check out the video below.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK AND BACKSTREET BOYS' SINGLE IS HERE

Don't Turn Out the Lights is the new joint single by tour-mates New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys, and I gotta say, it ain't bad at all. It's a sweet little song that reminds me of the best of the boy bands' music. It kinda rocks along like a summer jam that you would listen to while drunk driving with the windows of the car down or getting blackout drunk on a beach with strangers. Is that just me? Oh. Anyway, check it out and see if I'm right. If you wanna see all the "boys" on tour, go here for dates.
