THROWBACK THURSDAY: BEST FEMALE RAP/SUNG COLLABORATIONS

In celebration of the new Britney Spears/Iggy Azalea collab Pretty Girls (I had strep when it came out so I didn't post it. Watch it HERE) I thought I take a walk down memory lane to some of my fave all female rap/sung collaborations of the past. From the pop perfection of Gwen and Eve to the sultry soul of Salt 'N' Pepa with En Vogue, the ladies know how to make a mark and lay down the law. Here are some of my personal favorite all female rap/sung collaborations. Enjoy.

NEW NICKI MINAJ: STUPID HOE

Okay. Well, I guess that the ultra-pop sound of Super Bass is not extending to the Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album. This is straight up rap, hard sounding and not glittery AT ALL. Nicki is taking on a stupid hoe, I'm thinking Lil' Kim (duh), and pretty much ripping her a new a-hole. "Stupid hoes is my enemy. Stupid hoes is so whack. Stupid hoe shoulda befriended me, then she coulda pro'ly came back." HA! Scathing! The video IS similar to Super Bass in that it uses the bright colors and crazy makeup that made that video so delicious. Anyhoo, take a look and listen and see what you think. I think it's growing on me. In other news: Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded WAS to be released Valentine's Day, but has been pushed back to April 3rd. Not explanation why, but Nicki said on her twitter:
"New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED. But have no fear. Tons of surprises before then ;). Love Always, HB"
Don't worry. It's coming.

THE NUMBER ONE SONG TEN YEARS AGO TODAY WAS...

Lady Marmalade from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Christina Aguilera, Mya, Lil' Kim and Pink sang the bejeezus out of the Labelle classic in 2001 with help from producer Missy Elliot. Well Xtina and Pink sang, Mya coo'd and Kim grunted and rapped. Ha. Still impressive to hear in 2011, the song topped the charts for five consecutive weeks in June 2001. This song was right before Christina's Stripped album and right before Pink blew up with Mizunderstood. I'm sure this song helped both those ventures explode. Here is the video for the song that was #1 this week 10 years ago, Lady Marmalade.
