HAPPY MONDAY SONG: SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE - R.E.M. WITH KATE PIERSON

Today's Happy Monday Song literally has the word "happy" in the title, so you know it's going to do the job. Plus, Kate Pierson is involved, so happiness is implied. Is it possible to hear her voice and not smile? I think not. Shiny Happy People was released in 1991 as the second single from R.E.M.'s album Out of Time, hitting #10 on the Hot 100. After the huge success of the much more somber Losing My Religion, maybe the band felt like lifting everyone's spirits, so they released the song and a very colorful video featuring Kate dancing in her exuberant way. The rest is happy history.  Despite the fact that many fans and R.E.M. themselves hate this song, I like it and I'm forcing it into your earholes today. TAKE THAT, SADNESS!!!
