MADONNA FRIDAY: HUNG UP

How do you make an already perfect artist...um..... perfectER? Add ABBA! That's exactly what Madonna did in October 2005 when she unleashed her monster first single from her album Confessions on a Dance Floor, Hung Up. Pumping up the elements of all that was right with disco, Madonna sampled ABBA's Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) to perfect effect, hitting #1 in 45 countries and entering the Guinness Book of World Records as the song hitting #1 in the most countries. The song tied Madonna with Elvis Presley as the artist with the most top 10 hits, that being 36!!! (Madonna surpassed Elvis with 4 Minutes and Give Me All Your Luvin). FYI: Hung Up was Madonna's first single to be released to iTunes. The music video, directed by genius David LaChapelle, had a documentary look to it and showed kids from London, Paris, New York, L.A., Shanghai and Tokyo (Madonna's dancers and dancers from LaChapelle's film "Rize") all coming together in a nightclub to dance and celebrate with Madonna. Parts of the video, like Madge dancing in the studio in a pink leotard in the beginning, are inspired by Saturday Night Fever. Madonna, 46 at the time, was looking better than ever and kept up with the "kids" in the video like the Queen she is. Anyhoo, here is Hung Up. Enjoy and remember, "time goes by so slowly for those who wait."[source]
