MELANIE C., AKA SPORTY SPICE, IS A HIT IN LONDON'S WEST END

Melani C, best known as Sporty Spice, apparently has some musical theatre chops! Who knew? I love Sporty and I actually have ALL her solo work, but I didn't think, based on Spice World, there was much acting ability to her. Apparently I was wrong. Guess there's a first time for everything! Mel is currently starring in the West End revival of Blood Brothers, a musical about two twin boys separated at birth. One becomes successful and the other is a hot mess. Nature versus nurture stuff. Mel plays the central character of Mrs. Johnstone, the goodhearted if not doomed matriarch. New York Times describes her portrayal as such: "Melanie C acts and sings the role as if it were her own personal Medea, a theater neophyte’s rabid conviction shared with an audience that may have come bearing skepticism and stayed to cheer. Emotions this raw in any cultural context are very rare." WOW!!! That is amazy! Hopefully we'll get Sporty over here on Broadway. I can finally stalk her. I mean meet her.
