CHERYL COLE HAS 2012 FASTEST SELLING UK SINGLE

Cheryl Cole may not have been able to make a big impact in the US after being let go from X Factor, but the British lass is certainly kicking ass in the UK. Her new single, Call My Name, is likely to debut at #1 next week and after only three days of availability has already sold 97,000 copies!! This gives Cole's song the fastest selling first week of 2012 in the UK, and she still has until Sunday to get her grand total! If CMN wants to have the BIGGEST first week hall it'll have to beat out Gary Barlow's Sing, which sold 142,000. Also, if Call My Name reaches the top slot, it'll be the third time Cheryl's reached the peak with the first single from an album. That's a 100% average! 2009's Fight For This Love from Three Words and 2010's Promise This from Messy Little Raindrops also found their way to the top of the charts in the UK. While Call My Name is nowhere near the quality of her first singles, nor was her last album anywhere close to the amazingness of her first, I don't begrudge Cheryl her Calvin Harris moment. Even if it does sound A LOT like all the other Calvin Harris moments of this past year. She is working it though. Go, Cheryl!! You don't need us Americans anyway! MORE NEW SCISSOR SISTERS

We have heard first single Only The Horses with it's Calvin Harris chorus, but now we get another track from their upcoming album called Let's Have a Kiki. In case you DON'T watch RuPaul's Drag Race (shame on you) a "kiki" is basically gossiping. The song talks all about it and is pretty fun and funky, if I do say so myself. Take a listen and look for the Scissor Sisters new album, Magic Hour, due at the end of May. The track contains a lot smack talkin' by Ana Matronic and sounds like the cast of Paris is Burning over a latin club beat. Hot!! Ana always has one track all her own on each album (Tits on the Radio, Kiss You Off, Skin That Cat, et al), and this one is a good one, IMHO. I'm really excited for some new Scissor Sisters now after hearing these two tracks. It's a different sound for the kids. Yay!

NEW MUSIC/VIDEO: CHERYL COLE - CALL MY NAME

Brit popstar and former Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole is back with the first single Call My Name from her upcoming third solo album, A Million Lights, due in June. The Calvin Harris produced single is very of-the-moment sounding with a lot of clubland synths and build-ups a la We Found Love, also a Calvin Harris track. Coincidence? I think not. I am not sure how I feel about this song or video. There's something a little I-don't-know about it, but Cheryl looks amazing, as usual. I always forget how much she looks like Shania Twain. Right?
